I met his grandson. He was serving as an MI full-bird in the ROK in the late 90's :-)

York was a handsome son-of-a-gun! May he R.I.P.
To: smokingfrog
yeah those DUMB@$$ES in MA wanted to destroy the thing. Stupid !@# anti gun zealots have no idea what they had or even who Sgt York was (not the library the police and ATF officers contacted).
i am so happy that it is going to have a respectful home

I met his son, Andrew Jackson York. He is (was?) the head Ranger at the State Park which is his father’s homestead.
Pall Mall TN is a lot different than New London CT.

The Musuem of Appalachia is a great place. It’s high on my “do again” list.

I love that area of Tennessee. The woods just smells right. From the Clear Fork River to Picket State Park and Wildlife Management Area to the Big South Fork of the Cumberland there is plenty of deep woods to explore.

The Huns had probably never even heard of Appalachia or Tennessee. Suckers never knew what hit them.

This has been in the news for a while. I’m glad it worked out. Museums can accept unregistered machineguns as donations, foiling the BATF, which always wants to destroy them, no matter their historical signifigance or the fact that nobody will ever rob a bank or pull a drive-by with an MG08/15

"I met his son, Andrew Jackson York. He is (was?) the head Ranger at the State Park which is his fathers homestead." Cool...I met Football Hall of Famer Jack Lambert while I was out hunting once and he was working as a deputy for the PA State Game Commission ;-)

I’ma gonna suggest one small fix. {;^)
Sites are where construction is done or a page (or pages) on the web.

the fact that nobody will ever rob a bank or pull a drive-by with an MG08/15Oh I don't know about that. You could certainly do a drive by with it mounted in the bed of your pick up, "technical" style
You'd just have to hope to heck that there wasn't another "Sgt. York" type in the place you were driving by. Could ruin your whole day.
