Here in Alaska, I've seen various Indian Villages get grants to study feasibility of building wind farms; they have a temporary 100 foot tower measuring average wind speed over a year. The one I saw myself was in what we thought was a very windy area, average speed was like 6 mph, not enough.

All the local guys with wind generators either don't get enough juice to accomplish anything;;;; had another neighbor catch his cabin on fire with his hookup. Then I know of a couple that were blown down after 10 years or so. Alot of maintenance too from river dust.

I'll stick to cutting/hauling firewood. Maybe someday they'll invent a generator I can catch excess heat from wood furance and generate elec.

smile .. it is called energy density and the libs have no clue about it.
