Sen. Landrieu defends Medicaid deal for La.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Called a prostitute by conservative talk show hosts, a Louisiana Democrat on Thursday defended a deal she cut for her Hurricane Katrina-ravaged state in the Senate health care bill.

Sen. Mary Landrieu insisted the Medicaid boost worth $300 million wasn't the price for her vote for President Barack Obama's sweeping health care plan and she noted that state Republicans backed the deal. Defiantly, she said she would do it all over again if she had to.

"I don't need this job badly enough—maybe some people do, I don't—to throw the people of my state under the bus to protect myself politically," Landrieu said in an impassioned speech on the Senate floor.

Harry Reid’s next sweetheart deal:

To quell unrest in the ranks, Harry Reid approves that no state has to pay Medicare. The burden must be born solely by individuals. To make up the shortfall, individual rates will rise 63%.

That fat gas bag was wailing about Katrina again.
How much longer does that con game have to go on.
The other states that were devistated bu hurricanes rebuilt and are carrying on with their lives.
I want to puke evertime someone brings up Katrina.

This is odd. When I accomplish something I think was a good thing, I don’t make angry denunciations. I don’t have to tell everyone about who it is agrees with me. I simply let the good actions speak for themselves. It seems as though “Big Easy’ Mary is a little testy about all the ‘good’ she has done. And if the bill doesn’t pass, then she has all this egg on her face and nothing to show for it.

Mary Landrieu needs to be harassed for every day for the rest of her term about this. They ought to try to recall her if it's possible in Louisiana to do so.

“In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Louisiana stood to lose federal reimbursements for Medicaid, the federal-state health insurance program for the poor, because the state’s post-hurricane economic surge temporarily boosted per-capita income that’s used to measure Medicaid payments.”

The bus Mary through us under must be the same bus used to evacuate Katrina refugees.

The other state didn’t have 90% of the damaged houses in the worse flooded areas, signed up under the HUD program and being rented out at highly augmented rates.

Actually it was Aunt Phyllis Landreau, president of the NOLA school board that made sure the buses weren’t used for any public transportation.

She is correct that state republicans supported this. She is dishonest by failing to admit that obama used this to buy her vote.

People in Louisiana are fed up with New Orleans and the Katrina crap also. Where I live we were moderately slapped by Katrina and run over by Gustav. In both cases we had most of our stuff cleaned up and back together within 2 months. Just people rolling up their sleeves and getting after it, neighbor and family helping neighbor and family.
New Orleans is pathetic when it comes to self help but really great when it comes to whining and sitting on their asses. Typical Democrat controlled third world sh*#hole of a city.

Check at the archieve of the local NOLA paper and read the minutes of the school board meeting....No buses were to be used by the public.....passed after two meetings.
