If youre an LSU basketball fan, one story which might have been supremely disappointing over the past 20 years is that of former Tiger scoring machine Chris Jackson, who changed his name to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf following a conversion to Islam and subsequently refused to stand for the national anthem while playing in the NBA, among several incidents marking him as at least somewhat unfriendly to his country.
There is a story behind Jacksons conversion, and its one which needs to be told in light of recent events because Jackson/Abdul-Rauf isnt just a guy who decided to be a Muslim.

Very interesting.
I grew up watching the guy and he was a scoring machine. The fact that he overcame Tourettes(you could see his ticks when he shot free throws) had impressed me and made me root for him when he was a collegian. I hate when I see that people I enjoy watching perform turn out to be real a-holes. I suppose they are just regular people and the fact that they are bizarre, twisted, and in this case, a traitor shouldn’t surprise us.
It sure turned out to be fun rooting against the guy after his conversion since he was always on crappy teams and he lost his quick step with age. Always could shoot the lights out though.
Excellent article. A couple of questions: Why have some nice black ops guys not killed al-Awlaki already? (Would like to know how he was allowed to leave the country after 9/11, too, but I understand mistakes are made.) How many other al-Awlakis are running around our country right now, today, preaching treason and sedition? Why do we tolerate this in our midst? Why do we put up with it, or rather, why does our government force us to put up with it?
I watched him in college. Awesome talent.
Around this time, we had a Cadet..Dodd was his name. Went AWOL jihadi style w the NOI in Louisiana. Last I heard, he was proclaiming about how the army of allah was going to wipe out the white man. Blah...blah...blah..
None of this surprises me anymore.
