Hmmmmm. I wonder if the applicants have to LOOK black as well as BE black. I personally know of the son of a black man and white woman who does not LOOK black at all ... fair skin, nearly blonde hair, and blue eyes. Would he qualify? Would he be denied the scholarship once they took a look at him?

Who decides how black is black?
Enquiring minds want to know.

My son qualifies as African-American, but you’d never know it unless you’ve met his mother. Soon, he’ll be of age to qualify for this scholarship.

I read an interesting article on Obama that analyzed him as Arab, being only really 6.25% African. It used to be that any minority was determined by 12.5% of that minority heritage. Amazingly, race is now (and very recently) exclusively self-declared, so the kid is in!
