I think a similar controversey occurred recently in Colorado in which a school district posted a similar menu for MLK day...

The menu is not racist - it’s typical southern black food. Are people offended if the have tacos on May 5th?

As a Southern white man, I'm sick to death of PC controversies such as this over food items that have been a part of our heritage for generations. I love fried chicken and I love watermelon, who the hell decided that race has anything to do with it??!!

It ain't a black or white thing, this is a Southern thing.

"Questlove, who I serve every day and who enjoys my food, requested the neck bone [cooked in] the black-eyed peas and fried chicken, then got off the line, saying, 'This is racist,' " she said.

What a jerk. I guess he thinks it's hilarious to slander the lady who works hard to cook his food every day.

This is stoooopid! The people that should be ashamed are the ones that were “offended”.

Perhaps, and with any luck the Leftist inspired “Racist” crap will finally be dealt a death blow by the very people the Left have been brazenly using as a tool for their projects for so long.

It’s a nice dream, but Jackson and Sharpton, and their ilk will probably not let it happen. It’s their livlihood at stake.

The most offensive part of this article is that Jimmie Fallon has his own television show.

1.2M twitter followers for Jimmy Fallon’s drummer?

But this is at the core of the whole multicultural-sensitivity thing. On the one hand, ‘trainers’ would like to re-educate the population against stereotypes (such as Latinos tending to be late) then on the other hand they want to re-educate the population to cultural differences (such as Latinos having a different sense of time). It really is a double-bind.

featuring fried chicken, collard greens and black-eyed peas....but the African-American chef who planned it doesn't understand the fuss.

Outlaw fried chicken, collard greens and black-eyed peas. They're racist. It's the only "progressive" way to handle this. We can't have one group eating anything different than another group, now can we? It disrupts the great collective.
So, quit complaining and eat your gruel.

Sigh. You can’t have it both ways. If you wish to have elements of your own ethnic culture, such as an ethnic cuisine, which in fact all ethnic cultures proudly and rightfully proclaim, then when that ethnic culture is celebrated by others, including those of your own ethnicity, you simply can’t cry racism.

I’ve seen countless food shows depicting various ethnic restaurants with delectable food, including a number of soul food restaurants, complete with, gasp, African-Americans chowing down! Gosh, and not one complaint of racism about these shows.

This hyper-racism has simply got to stop. It’s akin to crying wolf, and desensitizes everyone to the legitimacy of the actual racism that still occurs in our society. In point of fact, hyper-racism itself focuses on emphasizing the differences of people rather than their similarities and is counter-productive to a harmonious society.

Hyper-racism is simply another form of exploitation, and Obama himself could say these sorts of words I’ve written here when egregious hyper-racism makes it to the main stream media level if he really wanted to promote improved race relations. As an African-American, Obama as President, is in the perfect position in which he could actively promote racial healing by making this a point of emphasis in almost every major speech. But he never does. Why is that?

To almost any objective analyst of society, it’s evident that exploitative hyper-racism is deliberately promoted by the ultra-left as a means of further alienating and isolating certain groups in an effort to herd them into, and keep them, in their own camp. The ultra-left actually cares not one whit for these groups. They simply want their votes, and of course their “cause”. Furthermore, it’s to the advantage of the ultra-left to keep these groups in perpetual poverty and ignorance in order to maintain that “cause” and the unwitting servitude of these groups to the ultra-left.
