Pelosi: Where Are the Jobs, Mr. President?
Office of Nancy Pelosi ^ | August 1, 2003 | Nancy Pelosi

Posted on 02/05/2010 6:50:42 AM PST by CodeToad

Washington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the Bureau of Labor Statistics' announcement that 470,000 people abandoned their job searches in July and that 3.2 million private sector jobs have been lost since President Bush took office:

“The fact is that President Bush’s misguided economic policies have failed to create jobs. Since President Bush took office, the country has lost 3.2 million jobs, the worst record since President Hoover. And today we learned that in July nearly half a million people gave up looking for a job.

“Job losses are taking a real toll on the financial security of American families. While Democrats are fighting for opportunity, jobs, and economic security for working families, Republicans continue to focus on helping those who need help the least.

“According to today’s survey, while the national unemployment rate dropped slightly, it still stands at a near record high. In addition, the unemployment rate for African Americans was still over 11 percent in July, and the unemployment rate for Hispanics was 8.2 percent in July.

“It is time for President Bush and the Republicans to get to work for all Americans, not just the elite few.”

It seems if we change "Bush" to "Obama" and change the "3.4 million jobs lost" to "34 million jobs lost", Nancy Pelosi is upset at Obama.

The article is still on her website.

Golly Pelosi, you liar, I clearly remember at the end of 43’s last term, unemployment in TX was around 3.4-3.7. Idiots. My friends in construction and many other fields were always looking for more help, those were good days.

“Since President Bush took office, the country has lost 3.2 million jobs, the worst record since President Hoover.”

Uh..Nance, I think you will find that 99.9% of those lost jobs were after YOU took over as majority leader!

Why go back to Bush when the unemployed number would be
much larger if Nancy said George Washington?

Then she could use the Dem’s favorite word, “Trillions” of jobs lost... just sayin’.

Seems like the question, “Where are the jobs, Mr. President” is directed to Obama.

The Bush references seem unrelated to the title.

I’d really like to see that ignorant **** loose her job.

And we can get to the important task of letting creative, intelligent folks get their jobs back.

And let the Botox B**ch drop into the sun.

“3.4 million jobs lost” to “34 million jobs lost”, Nancy Pelosi is upset at Obama.

Look at it this way, Obama is going to solve the immigration problem for us. Why would anyone fight to get into this country when there is no work for them.

They will be fighting to get back across the border in droves.

The unemployment rate in August 2003 was....6.1%. Hmmmm. Lets look at this:

Dems took the congress 1/07 unemployment was 4.5%

Within two years the dem congress had driven that up to 7% and delievered a financial crisis.

One year later, after adding a dem president we have 10% unemployment.

So when the republicans controlled everything the unemployment rate was below 5% and under the dems it double that.

Hmmm, let me think about that.

If you think that Nancy Pelosi’s 2003 “Where are the jobs?” comment is interesting, I’ve got a better one. I remember back in 2001, when President Bush said we needed his tax cuts to stimulate the economy, after first having said that we needed his tax cuts to give the surplus back to the people. Paul Krugman was ALL OVER Bush for changing his rationale for tax cuts. Find that column—because in that 2001 Krugman column, he calls tax cuts to stimulate the economy “Keynesian economics”, and goes on to say that almost ALL economists consider Keynesian economics to be dead and discredited! Then he pushed for Federal Reserve monetary stimulus instead (also Keynesian—though Krugman didn’t admit it). Anyway, after then trashing the Bush tax cuts as Keynesian economics which would lead to budget deficits-—NOW Krugman has been pushing HUGE borrow and spend Keynesian schemes for Obama, and doesn’t seem to care about deficits, anymore. Krugman—by the way-—along with Bradley DeLong-—is the intellectual anchor of the Democrats!!!
Also, since Bernake got reconfirmed, somebody ought to post his Fed predictions for 2008, 2009 and 2010 from 2006 or 2007! He predicted a great economy going out 3 years, with inflation and GDP growth moderating around “full employment”, ie GDP would slow to about 2.5% and inflation would fall to about 1.5%. Here’s the guy who oversees banks and lending, and who had just finished raising the Fed funds rate over 400% in two short years and without a clue about what would happen to housing prices and the markets attached to them. And what a mess he made trying to reinflate the housing bubble. One more thing: Obama is terrible and devious—but Bush and McCain are dumb—and if the Republicans keep nominating Doles and Bushes and Palins and McCains, then to most people who aren’t deep in politics-—the Obamas will win. Too bad that Ross Perot didn’t win im 1992 or HW raised taxes and killed his second term. He and his son could have been heroes, but both made themselves into goats. I wish Gore got elected, just to turn people off Democrats forever....

It was directed at Bush, but since unemployment has grown worse under Obama, the same words should be applied to Obama.

Ofcourse the excuse will be that Obama 'inherited' the problem, so it isn't really his fault-it is still Bush's fault.

I have noticed lately that many people are spelling 'lose' as 'loose'.

Is there some reason for this?

I have seen it too many times for it to be simply a typo.
