A 12-year-old Queens girl was hauled out of school in handcuffs for an artless offense - doodling her name on her desk in erasable marker, the Daily News has learned.
Alexa Gonzalez was scribbling a few words on her desk Monday while waiting for her Spanish teacher to pass out homework at Junior High School 190 in Forest Hills, she said.
"I love my friends Abby and Faith," the girl wrote, adding the phrases "Lex was here. 2/1/10" and a smiley face.
But instead of simply cleaning off the doodles after class, Alexa landed in some adult-sized trouble for using her lime-green magic marker.
She was led out of school in cuffs and walked to the precinct across the street, where she was detained for several hours, she and her mother said.

The adult reaction was abysmally stupid, but I bet she never does it again.

I'm very concerned that our "leaders" all seem to be completely and dangerously insane. The system has no hope of working under these conditions.
It’s as crazy as calling 911 over Chicken McNuggets. That story went nationwide (but not all of the details, the woman had PAID for McNuggets and then was told “don’t have ‘em, choose something else” and denied a refund).
There seems to be no common sense in the teaching/admin. of schools today...Its not like she carved her name in with a switchblade...

I look on the bright side of things. With her newly established street cred, the badboys will be asking her out now.
Well, it was something we did all the time. The desktops had a marlite-type or formica-type surface. We could write on it and erase it.
Keep in mind that many of our schools are “led” by career liberals with almost flawless job security.
Bet she won’t do it again!
Yep, we really have to go after these really bad child criminals because Lord knows we don’t have any more problems with drugs, fights, gangs, etc. /sarc
If I were the cop, I would have chewed out the school authorities for wasting my time, and for them to go get a real job, like teaching! This would have pissed me off!
If they did that to me when I was a kid, every time I screwed up, I would be in a federal pen right now. These jerks will force kids like this to join local gangs. They need to be kicked out of the educational system. Of course the education system doesn’t exist today. It’s call the indoctrination system.

At the Middle School where my wife teaches, some of the kids are taller than her and could be mistaken for High School Jr.s.
