Politicizing Intelligence (Obama administration only leaked Abdulmuttalab secret on background)
The Weekly Standard ^ | February 5, 2010 | Stephen Hayes

Posted on 02/05/2010 11:28:21 AM PST by Sergeant Tim

At the White House briefing Thursday afternoon, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs attacked Bond for politicizing intelligence and haughtily demanded an apology: “No briefing is done here or anywhere in this administration where classified information is used in a place where it shouldn’t be,” Gibbs said. “And I would suggest that somebody that alleges that, when they know it doesn’t happen, owe[s] people an apology.”

The White House contends that the sensitive information about cooperation from Abdulmutallab was unintentionally disclosed during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Tuesday. At the hearing, Mueller responded to concern from Senator Olympia Snowe that the decision to mirandize the terrorist so quickly meant that the U.S. government missed valuable intelligence. “Let me just add one other point, and that is, it is a continuum. In other words you can look at it in that day, but I encourage you to look at what has happened since then. It is a continuum in which over a period of time we have been successful in obtaining intelligence, not just on day one, but day two, day three, day four, day five and down the road.”

That’s not much of a disclosure. But Gibbs explained that the White House felt the need to provide background briefings about what Abdulmutallab was now saying in order to “contextualize” the information after receiving inquiries from reporters.

“And I would suggest that somebody that alleges that, when they know it doesn’t happen, owe[s] people an apology.”

If Gibberish is really going to start expecting apologies owed the White House is going to have to cease all other activity to focus on all the ones they owe.

no, and since he is only 18, I doubt he is saying much anymore that is valuable

he was compartmentalized when recruited, most likely told nonsense, and then sent to die for Allah

what can he really know??

No response from the WH to Kit Bond's strong statement.

They got whipped and they know it.

He is 23, was in 2007 the President of a student league in London at the college he was attending. He invited former Gitmo detainee Mozzam Begg to speak at a series of lectures. At the time, Begg’s big thing railing against Yemen detaining Awlaki at the request of the U.S. It fact, Abdulmuttalab sat next to Begg on the stage at one lecture.

Abdulmuttlab started skipping Arabic language classes at one college in San’a about three weeks after he arrive in Yemen, in August 2009. The Times UK reported other students saw him then attending lectures at El Emam (Imam) University in San’a. El Emam U. is headed by Zandani who is on the State Department’s terrorist list and Awlaki was under investigation by the FBI until March 2000 as a VP of Zandani’s organization.

Abdulmuttalab was out of sight in Yemen for about two months. What he can tell U.S. intelligence is a lot. Who he met, who sent him along the rat line to AQAP, who trained him, who he saw, and can be shown photographs of those suspected to have been in Yemen while he was there and if they also trained with the AQAP. (I am sure you know who Awlaki is.)

Gibbels propaganda and his boss do not have the security of Americans in mind.

Impeachment should be the next step.

When you have a clown for president it shouldn’t be a surprise his administration is a circus.

Steve Hayes has been doing a yeoman’s job of reporting on the Administration...particularly in covering their outrageous bumbling of the UndieBomber arrest.

Stephen F. Hayes kicks the Obama Administration very hard for its incompetence, politicizing of intelligence, and deception.
