The Washington Times ^ | February 8, 2010 | Editorial

Posted on 02/05/2010 5:19:35 PM PST by Abakumov

It is time to start bringing our troops home from Haiti. The earthquake is over; order is restored; the star-studded benefit songs have been recorded. When the emergency ends and reconstruction begins, the mission should be handed off to other government departments, and the fighting forces should depart.

Haiti is like the Bates Hotel. The USA checks in but can’t check out.

On the one hand we have our great servicemen/women there and on the other is the “blue helmets”.

Yes, we shouldn’t be there but it’s very tough to leave the “blue helmets” in charge.

100% agreed. Our Marines and Airborne troops are not aid relief workers.

Bring them home, the op tempo is too high for them as it is with the war, now with aid missions, they have no down time at all. They have families o take care of too. The time spent in Haiti is time they should be spending with their families.

My one point of disagreement is that the mission should NOT “be handed off to other government departments”. It should be handed over to private charities and benevolent groups.

Let the Euroweenies or UN or some other idiot organization foot the bill and risk their soldiers on security for a change. We’ve done more than enough.

When the emergency ends and reconstruction begins, the mission should be handed off to the whinny Euroweenies, and the fighting forces should depart and not look back.

Obama wants to make them citizens of the U.S. now so they will all vote for him. He is giving our tax money and money borrowed from other countries in exchange for future votes.

FREE HAITI!

Oh, I am going to have fun with this.

Let the dems be destroyed by the weapons that they themselves forged.

Shouldn’t have gone in the first place. Or, our role should simply have been to secure airport, have hospital ship offshore.

Bye, Haiti...! HOPELESS..!

Screw it. We have no stake in nation building for Haiti. They have had 200 years of independence and haven't figured it out yet. Let the Norwegians and whoever, do their thing. It gives them something to make them feel important, and that distracts them from f*ing with the climate.
