WASHINGTON – A blizzard battered the Mid-Atlantic region Saturday, with emergency crews struggling to keep pace with the heavy, wet snow that has piled up on roadways, toppled trees and left thousands without electricity.

Officials urged people to huddle at home and out of the way of emergency crews. Forecasters said the storm could be the biggest for the nation's capital in modern history.

A record 2 1/2 feet or more was predicted for Washington. As of early Saturday, 10 inches of snow was reported at the White House, while parts of Maryland and West Virginia were buried under more than 20 inches. Forecasters expected snowfall rates to increase, up to 2 inches per hour through Saturday morning.

Blizzard warnings were issued for the District of Columbia, Baltimore, parts of New Jersey and Delaware, and some areas west of the Chesapeake Bay.

And the shelves in the grocery stores must be empty. I work for a grocery wholesaler, I just got done planning multiple trucks of groceries to deliver to a chain there tomorrow.

I miss sliding down big snowy hills on chunks of cardboard and flying saucers and especially, missing the trees along the way too..

Not sure how long this stuff will stick around,, we do have some car racing and baseball to play real soon..

any way to export this stuff to Vancouver? they need it bad.

This one storm has done more to stimulate the economy than anything that MaoBama has done the last year.

Let’s all pray that it lasts until, say, NEXT November when America’s ADULTS will run the Obozo Dems out of town.

18” of snow at Philly airport so far, and could easily get 6 more inches, a big snow band has developed over the area and is barely moving. Baltimore has over 30”.

Just a bit north of you in Carroll County. Pretty incredible out there. Hard to say how much because it’s been pretty windy and everything’s drifting, but we’re definitely to the 2 ft. point, and right now I think it’s snowing the hardest it’s done so far.

Stay safe!

Officials urged people to huddle at home and out of the way of emergency crews.

Have you noticed the increasingly panic-inducing tone in announcements from the weather bureau and in weather related newspaper stories like this? "Huddle at home"? ROTFLOL!
