Democrats Pushing Back Against Carbon Regulations From the EPA
CNSNEWS ^ | February 5, 2010 | Chris Neefus

Three House Democrats are now pushing legislation that would stop the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating carbon emissions—a decision the agency announced in December -- without express permission from the Congress.

Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) and Rep. Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) introduced a bill on Tuesday that would amend the Clean Air Act to exclude regulations based on global warming effects, while Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.) has a bill that would keep the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases at all unless approved by Congress.

In April 2009 the EPA proposed an “endangerment finding” for greenhouse gases, claiming that they “endanger the public health and welfare of current and future generations.” An endangerment finding is necessary to regulate emissions under the Clean Air Act. On Dec. 7, the EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson officially signed the finding, opening the way to regulate emissions of gases like carbon dioxide and methane.

By complying with the rules of the Clean Air Act, the EPA claims it can begin regulating things directly, such as automobiles, without any new law from Congress. But some Democrats, contrary to the administration’s views of the issue, are not satisfied with the EPA’s new regulatory direction.

The EPA is way too powerful....(Puritan tiger beetle) This endangered critter's time has come however 'tis the religion of the EPA to sacrifice human habitat first. In fact, Clean Air may just kill humans....carbon dioxide and methane are naturally occurring gases: nothing can grow, or live without them.

The EPA and the Dept of Energy are two of the biggest wastes. They do nothing. Ditto the Dept of Education.

It’s about time some politicians stood their ground against the manmade global warming hoax. Greenhouse gasses are not endangering the planet. Greenhouse gasses are part of our ecosystem. Earth’s greenhouse gasses are NOT EVER influencing the activities of the sun! This entire hoax was for two reasons: 1) acquire taxpayers’ money through research grants from the government and 2) regulate U.S. industry out of existence. Every politician in the U.S. should be voting against any bill that supports the manmade global warming hoax.

Does anybody have the stats on how many American citizens die each year from CO2 poisoning?

Please elaborate? This guy use to be my rep, and I fondly remember way back when I called up his local office and asked how much 'red' communist Chinese campaign money his campaign took from the Clintons.... I got a gasp on the other end. But those were the days, as I got redistricted out to a Reverend type that has half of the metro of another county/city over me. I do not even bother to call their fruit off the old oak tree these days.

The EPA has outlived its usefulness. Now that NASA and the CIA will be monitoring the melting glaciers, I see no reason to be throwing money down the EPA rat hole.

I’m not sure which Dem you are referring to. If its Skelton, here are a couple of links:

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/77955-dem-midterm-woes

http://www.rollcall.com/features/Welcome-Back_Congress/welcome_back/42505-1.html

Republicans are targeting his seat, and are encouraging him to retire, promising him a tough race. He has raised a lot of cash in the last quarter, and has voiced opposition to changing “Don’t ask, Don’t Tell” policy as proposed by Obama, suggesting he will defend his seat. But in the face of a “Wave” election cycle, he just might want to spend more time with his family.

Yes it is Ike, I refer to. See now he has become a statue in this state and has ably been able to fly UNDER the radar in this state.

He was the minority pick to lead against the impeachment of old BJClinton, in the House, and then not long after got some sort of ship named after himself.

His district covers the military base of Ft. Leonard Wood and thus he campaigns, talks, the so called military talk. HOWEVER, he voted for ‘cap-n-trade’ which peeled back his primary colors (name of a book) as to his base passion.

I think his wife recently passed on so what other family he has not sure that is going to be something that is calling to his dumb deaf hearing.

And I welcome Republicans willing to target his seat.... see he represents the BillClinton religious left of those that kept BJClinton's polls numbers (religiously) speaking, born, bred democrats from the pulpit to the grave democrats.

Didn’t know if you knew, but the EPA is clean water, clean air. The US Fish and Wildlife and NOAA fisheries do the endangered species bits.
