Meant to get this posted yesterday on his birthday. I never get tired of hearing this.It brings back memories, sadness and fierce pride. Listen to our wonderfully virile U.S. Armed Forces Chorus. It will bless your Sunday.
Here is the text:
To fallen soldiers, let us sing, Where no rockets fly or bullets wing Our broken brothers let us bring To the Mansions of the Lord. No more bleeding, no more fight No prayers pleading through the night, Just divine embrace, eternal light In the Mansions of the Lord. Where no mothers cry and no children weep We will stand and guard though the angels sleep All through the ages safely keep The Mansions of the Lord.

Thanks for the post. Very stirring music. Brought back memories of his funeral and the next week I went to Reagan Museum.
Just a fantastic place. Regal really.

I love this song. My friend & I often sing/play it at church on Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, etc. I also suggested it to a friend who is a high school choral director; he found a 4-part choral arrangement for male voices and has performed it several times in concert.
As an Army mom I find it especially poignant and beautiful.
Thank you for posting this.

It just kind of pops you back into another frame of mind, doesn’t it. Today’s music has lost much of the trancendency that you can hear in the past Greats. That certain something that kind of tweaks the overarching humanity, makes you sadly smile and forget the petty for a few minutes. This guy stumbled upon it for these few bars. Have no idea what else he has done...but kudos to him for this one.

p.s. This appears to be a slightly different version from the original.....the opening lyric in this one, rather than "to fallen soldiers", is "to fallen heroes".....perhaps adapted for a memorial at some point.
Here is the original version from the movie "We Were Soldiers", sung by the West Point Academy Glee Club.
Both versions are excellent.
Thanks again for posting.

For quite a while after the funeral this site
http://ronaldreaganmemorial.com/ had a slide show of photos from the funeral and "Mansions Of The Lord" was the backing music. Now it's gone, replaced by the main Reagan memorial website. I sure would like to find that slide show again. It was fine tribute.

Yeah, there is a better verson on anglefire, but FR wouldn’t allow it to be posted. I have it looped right now, so after it’s over I’ll click on this one and see if it is the same!
Thanks.

In my father's house, there are many mansions.--John 14:2
I am a fan of traditonal sacred music, and there are very few hymns written after 1939 that I like. However, "Mansions of the Lord" is a notable exception. Thanks for posting this.

When they brought President Reagan’s casket out of the church and played this music, I wept and wept and wept.

I made the mistake of browsing the youtube tributes to the Gipper. If you all do the same don't blame me for the tears.
May he rest in peace with the Lord, and my the United States of America never forget his greatness.
