Now would be a good time for the Republicans to bring up all of zeros broken campaign promises. And frame this offer as just another empty suit campaign stunt.

The bill needs to be OPPOSED.

There is no “fixing” it....

I agree the event had low visibility, but disagree the criticism should be limited to the spin perspective.

I think it’s a mistake to assume the GOP will succeed on substance alone. The public can be persuaded by charisma - the GOP suffers from an appeal deficit - Obama has an abundance. It matters not what we think, it matters what the middle is persuaded to believe.

You are absolutely correct the GOP should force focus on the economy. They should also focus on taxes, bailouts, TARP redistribution, etc.

You would have to be really naive to believe anything this president says.

You can always tell when he is lying, his lips move. Must have taken lessons from Bill Clinton.

Obama’s proposed publicity stunt is revealing about Obama and his advisors.

It shows how stupid they must think average Americans are.

Obamacare is incredibly complicated, imposing government control over literally millions of independent actors consisting of insurance companies, drug companies, medical device manufacturers, hospitals, doctors and consumers, and encompassing 1/6 of the economy.

Obama thinks average Americans will find it believable that Obama can “sit down” with the Republicans and “hear their ideas” in a couple of hours with a “willingness” to work out a deal.

Republican ideas on health care reform have been around for years, such as tort reform and interstate competition. These ideas are discussed at length in many policy papers and analyses.

Obama plans to pretend at the publicity stunt that this is the first time the Republicans have tried to offer him any of these ideas.

Then, with the MSM on his side, he is going to dodge any serious discussion of any ideas, but have a few pre-written sound bites ready to throw out there. The MSM will play only these key soundbites, which will portray Obama as reasonable and willing but the Republicans as johnny-come-lately obstructionists.

Then, after judging what kind of public relations boost he gets from the event, he will go back to the 50 senators he needs to cram through Obamacare using reconciliation and find out if the publicity stunt will give them enough cover to vote Obamacare through.

He is just the stupidest president we have had in my lifetime. I think he is making Jimmy Carter look good.

I just hope we can last 3 more years of him.

““Obama said he wants to “look at the Republican ideas that are out there.””

The first idea that I would put out there is this.

Your plan depends on “saving” $500 billions from medicare - implement that first so we’ll know you’re serious and then we’ll talk.

My second idea would be to tell him we don’t accept the government taking over the medical system of the US and giving it control over our lives. We want to leave the choices to the people through the private sector.

No, no, no.

Do not fall for this Republicans.

Unless the plan consists of NAILING these communists to the wall on the unconstitutional and un-American aspects of this nightmare legislation, they should stay the hell away from his coven.

If they don’t plan on being Americans and fighting these leftist vampires, then they should bring their well-worn knee-pads, they’ll need them, again.

any Rs worth a damn would decline to participate, even though the MSM would try to vilify them -— explain as loudly and frequently as possible that it’s a year too late for the Obamanation to pretend he has any “bi-partisan” interests on this or just about any issue..... this is all window-dressing now that the Obamacare plan is on the ropes

this would also be a great time to explain publicly that Obama IS a socialist and that despite his ridicule of “Bolshevik plots” that it is simply a FACT that he wants the federal govt to take control of all health care in this country... that’s a FACT which the Demagogues try to obscure.

.... b...b....but everyone on MSNBC said he was brilliant, super-human, a stratospheric success!

I didn’t watch, but from what I read about it his maneuverings, it seems that all he did (as usual) was to avoid answering all direct questions and issues, “re-frame” everything in his own propagandistic terms, and ridicule all critics as loonies worried about “Bolshevik plots” etc.

Obama is the master of creating fictional straw man opponents so that he can pretend to demolish them, and then MSM suck-ups like Olbermann, Madow, and Matthews can go on ad nauseum about his brilliant (sic) performances.
