February 5, 2010
On the morning of February 4, Tim was invited to be a part of the program of the annual Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC. This event brings together political, business, religious, and civic leaders from around the world, including Heads of State, a majority of the U.S. Congress (Republicans and Democrats) the President's Cabinet and Supreme Court Justices.
Participants set aside their political differences in order to focus on the person of Jesus and to pray together for peace and reconciliation between individuals and nations. In addition to President Obama giving remarks, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also addressed the audience and Tim was asked to give the closing prayer.
Tebow's prayer included his most recent eye black verses worn in the Senior Bowl game, James 1:2-4.
Dear Jesus, thank you for this day today. Thank you for bringing together so many people that have a platform to influence people for you.
Lord as we disperse today, let us be united in love, hope, and peace. Lord, let us come together as one and break down all the barriers between us that separate us. Lord you came to seek and save that which is lost, and we thank you for that. Lord we dont know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future, and in that there is peace, and in that there is comfort, and in that there is hope.
Lord we pray for the people all over the world that are hurting right now.
The verse that comes to mind is James 1: 2-4, "Consider it all joy, my brethren, whenever you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing."
And we pray for the people in Haiti right now Lord, that you make them perfect and complete because you love them and have a plan for their lives, just as you do with our lives now.
So my prayer, as we leave today, that we are united as one because of you. We love you and thank you. In Jesus name, amen.
Tim and Danny Wuerffel (former Gator QB, Heisman winner and leader of Desire Street Ministries) also spoke at a meeting of Prison Fellowship Ministries with Chuck Colson to discuss their support for outreach to prisoners and their families. Tim also met with leaders of Congress form both sides of the aisle to listen to how the Tim Tebow Foundation might be able to support efforts to encourage Americans rest is OK.
It's good to see that the Word of God is going into all places, in our public discourse and even into the halls of government and other government officials and that Tim Tebow is not afraid to speak that Word of God to all of those in Washington DC ...
Tim Tebow Super Bowl Commercial-(ACTUAL COMMERCIAL)-Pro-Life-Focus on the Family
This is the prayer that Obama missed, He skipped out of the prayer breakfast before Tim got up to pray.
Probably had a pre-arranged prayer of his own to do.
Facing Mecca.
God bless Tim Tebow and his mother and all who publicly speak the name of Jesus Christ as Lord, God and Savior before a skeptical world.
He skipped out before someone who represents prolife in the public eye prayed? Ha.
Nothing in politics is an accident. Everything is carefully caluculated.
The President left the room before Tebow did the closing benediction .
The enormous Black Dog and unsettlingly over-protective Nanny that have guarded Obama since his birth - did they leave the room too?
Amen to that... :-)
This is the prayer that Obama missed, He skipped out of the prayer breakfast before Tim got up to pray.
I'm looking for the documentation so I can post it here... do you have that link... and I'll post the relevant section of it... thanks...
I guess Obama forgot his prayer rug and Teleprompter. The White Hut could have just sent over the teleprompter - same thing.
Though you've likely heard about "the most controversial ad to appear in the Super Bowl in many years," you might not have heard what inspired the ad.
by Tom Minnery
Dear Friend,
By now you've likely heard about what's been called the most controversial ad to appear in the Super Bowl in many years a Focus on the Family spot featuring Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Tim Tebow and his mother, sharing a message of "celebrate family, celebrate life."
For the past two weeks, major television networks, news outlets and even Saturday Night Live have jumped into the dialogue. We've been accused by a few organizations of being anti-woman, intolerant, divisive and spewing hate. But what's most amazing about these charges is that they're based entirely on conjecture none of our critics has yet seen the ad! (Beginning on Sunday, after the game, you can access the ad on the Focus on the Family home page.)
In responding to these charges, Focus President Jim Daly has had the chance to share the true message of this ad in interview after national interview and the sheer volume of coverage for our message of celebrating family and life has been worth far more than the cost of the ad itself. Besides that, the media, in covering the controversy, has conveyed many more details about the difficulties surrounding Tim's birth than we've been able to put in one 30-second ad. From the beginning, our goal has been to stimulate a discussion about the beauty of life and a mother's determination to bear that life. Wow, is that conversation ever happening.
This week's Focus Action Update online video discusses Focus on the Family's Super Bowl ad. We'll tell you what inspired the ad and how God miraculously provided the resources to produce and air it.
A "Win-Win" Already!
The Super Bowl is the single biggest TV attraction of the year. What better way to reach what many estimate could be 100 million people with a life and family-affirming message? People seeking help with their marriages or children will see a message of hope during one of the biggest family gatherings of the year.
Please join us in prayer this Sunday during the Super Bowl that those people who need help with their families will contact Focus via our toll-free phone number, (800) A-FAMILY or visit the Focus on the Family Web site. I also hope you'll forward this message on to your friends so that they'll know to watch for the ad and know why we aired it.

I watched the Tebow ad again. I cannot understand what possibly could be objectionable about it to cause such a controversy.
Here's the thing about that... they didn't know what was in the ad, before it was aired... LOL...
And if it were not for their objections and making it "front page news" ... that ad would have been seen by a lot of people who wouldn't even know what it was about.
In fact, those who are not aware of the controversy, probably saw the ad and still don't know what it's about... LOL...
Unless..., of course, they go to "Focus on the Family's website, and then they'll get a little bit more information...
I guess Obama forgot his prayer rug and Teleprompter. The White Hut could have just sent over the teleprompter - same thing.
I'm currently looking for that link and an article on what the FReepers said up above... do you happen to have it... I would like to post it here... thanks...
Some of what they say about the Bible, the Church and Salvation... all very important...
The Bible
We believe God has chosen not to remain silent but to reveal Himself. He primarily reveals Himself to us through the Bible. Scripture is the inspired Word of God. The entire Bible is God-breathed. The Holy Spirit moved apostles and prophets to write the words of Scripture. This inspiration extends to all parts of Scripture. Scripture originates with God, and He has used human language to make Himself known. Because God never lies, His Word is completely true. This means that Scripture is without error (inerrant) to the degree it represents the original manuscripts. We believe that the original manuscripts are completely free of error, and God has preserved the Bible so that it remains authoritative. The Bible helps us know God and how to live a life pleasing to Him. Exodus 24:4; Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19; Joshua 8:34; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Isaiah 34:16; 40:8; Jeremiah 15:16; 36; Matthew 5:17-18; 22:29; Luke 21:33; 24:44-46; John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17; Acts 2:16ff.; 17:11; Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21.
The Church
We believe the Church is the worldwide community of believers in Christ united by the Holy Spirit who relate to God on the basis of the New Covenant and gather in local assemblies. The mission of the church is to glorify God and to be a visual expression of Christ to a lost world. As the body of Christ, the church strives to grow into the fullness of Christ. Each member has a part to play. The church is encouraged to meet on a regular basis, observe the ordinances, worship the Lord together, build one another up in the faith, and preach the Gospel. The purpose of baptism is to identify with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection and to identify as a member of the local church. The purpose of the Lords Supper is to remember and celebrate Christs sacrifice on the cross and to encourage believers to anticipate His return. The offices of pastor/elder and deacon are designed to serve the body. Matthew 16:15-19; 18:15-20; Acts 2:41-42,47; 5:11-14; 6:3-6; 13:1-3; 14:23,27; 15:1-30; 16:5; 20:28; Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:2; 3:16; 5:4-5; 7:17; 9:13-14; 12; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:8-11,21; 5:22-32; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 2:9-14; 3:1-15; 4:14; Hebrews 11:39-40; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 2-3; 21:2-3.
Salvation
Salvation in the Scriptures, in the spiritual sense, can refer to salvation from the penalty of sin (justification), salvation from the power of sin (sanctification), or salvation from the presence of sin (glorification). Everyone is in need of spiritual salvation, because all have sinned. Sin is rebellion against God and justly deserves Gods wrath. We are unable escape from our fallen condition on our own, so we need Gods grace. Because of Gods great love, He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to pay for our sin. He took our punishment and died in our place. Three days after Jesus died, He rose again. He conquered death, and Hes offering us the free gift of eternal life. We receive eternal life by believing and putting our faith in Jesus. Repentance is a genuine turning to Christ for salvation. Jesus is the only way, because He alone can take away sin. When a person trusts in Jesus, he becomes a child of God. This is a permanent relationship that culminates in heaven. Genesis 3:15; Exodus 3:14-17; 6:2-8; Matthew 1:21; 4:17; 16:21-26; 27:22-28:6; Luke 1:68-69; 2:28-32; John 1:11-14,29; 3:3-21,36; 5:24; 10:9,28-29; 15:1-16; 17:17; Acts 2:21; 4:12; 15:11; 16:30-31; 17:30-31; 20:32; Romans 1:16-18; 2:4; 3:23-25; 4:3ff.; 5:8-10; 6:1-23; 8:1-18,29-39; 10:9-10,13; 13:11-14; 1 Corinthians 1:18,30; 6:19-20; 15:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Galatians 2:20; 3:13; 5:22-25; 6:15; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-22; 4:11-16; Philippians 2:12-13; Colossians 1:9-22; 3:1ff.; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 2 Timothy 1:12; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 2:1-3; 5:8-9; 9:24-28; 11:1-12:8,14; James 2:14-26; 1 Peter 1:2-23; 1 John 1:6-2:11; Revelation 3:20; 21:1-22:5.
Does the President go to these too?
Does the President go to these too?
Yes, you'll notice that the article says he did... and you can probably find Obama's speech at that Prayer Breakfast, but I have no idea what Obama said... :-) ...

As I address Sunday's controversial Super Bowl commercial, you will not read my views on abortion.
I recommend and humbly request you not try to read between the lines. More than likely, you'll guess wrong.
I am even purposely avoiding divisive labels like "pro-life'' or "pro-choice.'' People don't pick up the sports page to hear my views on this subject.
But I have one question both sides can consider. Did it make any difference?
Or was $4 million spent to confirm what what one side already believes deeply, while changing the deep beliefs of no one on the other?
I am skeptical that anybody's opinion on abortion will be altered by a Super Bowl commercial.
This one featured the story of quarterback Tim Tebow, whose mother declined an abortion and delivered him after a very difficult pregnancy in 1987.
The ad was reportedly paid primarily through donations, specifically earmarked for it. The sponsoring group, Focus on The Family, is said to have kicked in $1 million.
This ad does not sell a product, it sells a profound moral conclusion. As celebrity endorsements go, it is unprecedented, and Tebow has as many or more people cheering his unflinching stance as there are protesting CBS's decision to run it.
The average Super Bowl spot tells us, "Buy our car.''
This ad says, "Believe what we do.'' Its effect can't be measured by next month's sales.
But kids watch the Super Bowl. Many admire Tebow, and convincing the next generation is crucial to the spot's advocates.
Still, I remember the 1980s, when I did political talk radio at a now-defunct station in Holyoke.
The abortion debates were never discussions, but competing diatribes. Nobody had any interest in listening to the other side.
That is why I wonder if Tebow's ad was worth it, even looking at it from its sponsors' point of view.
When I did radio, those on what is now "the Tebow side'' told me their purpose was to keep the issue alive.
They were awaiting a different day, when the political climate might change. Time proved their point; polls indicate their side has gained significant support.
Surveys show a majority favors CBS' decision to run the ad. Some opposing pundits, notably Jimmy Kimmel, have hurt their own cause by ridiculing it.
That sort of disrespect for an opposing view almost always boomerangs in the face of the ridiculers.
Public opinion can change. So, from the sponsors' point of view, maybe this was an astute investment.
But I still wonder if the biggest problem with the ad is that it was money spent to no avail.
I wonder if $4 million, which could have been spent in other moral ways, will influence anyone's opinion, as a commercial is intended to do.
