In an interview with CBS News on Feb. 7, prior to the Super Bowl, the president made a surprise call for a half-day, bipartisan, nationally televised summit on healthcare. The political need for Obama to make such a bold move is underscored by his relatively low 36% approval rating on his handling of healthcare. Obamas healthcare approval rating is statistically little different from the 37% he received last month, but the two ratings are the lowest of his administration.
Americans give Obama his lowest rating, 32%, on handling the federal budget deficit, down from 38% when this was last measured in September. His ratings on the deficit have trailed his overall approval rating each time they have been measured. In late March, for example, Obama received 49% approval on handling the deficit while at the same time his overall approval rating was above 60%.

All more reason for the GOP to avoid him like the plague! The Obama Titanic is sinking.

Dear God, please let it last, at least, until November. And, if You could, until November 2012.
A bipartisan summit will surely solve the problem. All the negative republican will quickly quit caring about being re-elected (and maybe about what is good for the country) and simply cave because of the President electrifying personality. Why it will be like Ben Nelson all over again.
By next year this time, he’ll be looking UP to see Bushs poll numbers.
The people must not have heard that Bush created these problems. Obama just inherited them. ;)
Lindsey Graham is picking out the outfit he's gonna wear as we speak. He wants to make sure he doesn't clash with his summit date, Juan McCain.
Whoops, sorry about that. I thought I posted it on misc. Won’t happen again. I promise.
Hi Red.
I think the Republicans could use this opportunity to really sink Obama. They should release their set of ideas related to health care, like tort reform, allowing insurance companies to cross state lines, etc. immediately before the event. When Obama won’t touch any of those ideas it will be obvious that he is not interested in healthcare reform, bipartisanship or the wishes of the American people. Refusing to participate will paint the Repubicans as the useless ones who won’t “help” people.
It’s hard to imagine a psychologically worse, less qualified, ideologically unsuited character to put into the White House, but to be certain, liberals have more of them. I hope we survive this one.
>36% approval rating on his handling of healthcare.<
he doesn’t care, if his approval of this mess was at 2% he would still push it, He has to to complete his agenda. Without it, it will be very hard to control all of us.
he will have to push 3 or 4 other things to get the same amount of control. He is in this for the long haul now.
