Leverage Sought In Health Summit

Both the White House and congressional Republicans see opportunity in an upcoming bipartisan summit on health care, with the GOP given a chance to spotlight its ideas and President Barack Obama having a fresh chance to invigorate the languishing legislation.

It's clear a major gulf remains between the parties. On Monday, Republicans rejected outright any health legislation that doesn't start from scratch. The White House reiterated it has no intention of changing its fundamental approach.

Still, the White House hopes the televised meeting, set for Feb. 25, will change the tone of the health-care debate by showing Democrats are open to Republican ideas, many of which are already in their bills. And Republicans will win a rare opportunity to talk about their approach.

There is no need to change thge “tone” of the debate.
It is only useful to change the substance of what is being debated.

Again the MSM is all about form over substance, pretense over things that really affect our daily lives.

Crap. This is a trap.

Boehner should post the Republican plan online and invite public comments for the next ninety days. Then the Dems and Reps can decide if they want to make changes to the system before the election based on the Republican Plan. The Democrat plans have been a disaster. The Senate tried and failed. So did the House. Obama-Axelrod-Emanuel need to stay out of the process.

Republicans should be for reforming health care by Federalizing Medicare and Medicaid. State taxes should pay for medical care for the poor and elderly. One size does not fit all.

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees for 2-3 years. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.
