WH: Some Critics 'Serving the Goals of al Qaeda'
ABC News ^ | 2/9/10 | ABC News

In an oped in USA Today, John Brennan -- Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism -- responds to critics of the Obama administration's counterterrorism policies by saying "Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda."

Brennan writes that, "Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill."

In the oped, titled "'We need no lectures': Administration disrupts terrorists’ plots, takes fight to them abroad," Brennan writes that politics "should never get in the way of national security. But too many in Washington are now misrepresenting the facts to score political points, instead of coming together to keep us safe."

STFU. That's only true when pro-US people are running the show.

Translation: Our inept naive terrorist strategy designed for political gain is getting our butt kicked politically.

I'm frankly unsure to whom this dude is addressing his remarks. In my day to day life, I know of absolutely no one else who has ANY interest in the subject of terrorists and/or terrorism.

No one.

So, is he yelling at the elected Republicans? Or is yelling at the cable MSM who keep running stories on the Christmas Hot Pants Bomber? The MSM is running lots of stories, many sensationalistic, in some vain attempt to increase ratings, they don't care about terrorists and/or future terror attacks either.

From the impotent bas***** that accused us of “questioning” their patriotism to deflect the fact that politically the country doesn`t trust them on the issue.

USA Today's editorial writers say that when senior administration officials revealed Abdulmutallab's cooperation with authorities, "the news pretty much negated earlier claims that no intelligence was lost when Abdulmutallab was prematurely read his rights."

Of course, as governsleastgovernsbest pointed out, the fact that the Administration leaked that the panty bomber was cooperating is itself a serious breach of national security and reduces the value of the info...

They could use a lecture on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

the value of the info was not only reduced, but I betcha eliminated 10 seconds after the dude failed to blow up the plane.

chasing leads he gives now is akin to a dog and its tail.

LOL, this dude Mr. John Brennan certainly has a high opinion of himself, I wonder how he was ever cajoled to write something for a rag so NON-elitist as USA Today?

This is a link to Brennan's OpEd piece in USA Today.

Pathetic.

Sarah Palin just said that the Obama administration's attitude toward the American people is "sit down and shut up."

Nice of them to prove her right.

Exactly. I posted this on twitter this morning saying that apparently he has zero sense of irony...

BTW, Obama’s allies like Jodie Evans serve the goals of al Qaeda, literally.

Hummmm...

You may not like it but... the buck now stops with you. If your team doesn't match Bush's record it will be your fault not his. Recognize your responsibility and quit whining about real world politics.

As the old Gunny says...

“Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!”

Your choice.

I’d like to see McCain come out today with a statement on this ripping these guys to shreds. Sticking up for Bush’s WOT policies is about the only thing he’s good for, so this would be a good time for him to come out swinging on this remark.
