He should have vetoed the Campaign Finance Reform bill. He said he believed it was unconstitutional, and obviously believed that it was bad for the country, but failing to do his duty in that instance was pure gutlessness.

I believe that was the rub with a lot of us. Foreign policy? Very good. Handling the aftermath of 9/11? Great! Domestic policies? Awful! But, as a side not, Congress did not help matters at all in 2005 after he was re-elected mainly because of his Ownership Society rhetoric. He hit the ground running in 2005 trying to reform SS and the Republicans in Congress stabbed him in the back. The rest of 2005 and 2006 were disasterous and then the Dems came back into Congressional Power in 2007 and began to REALLY make a mess of things.
Honestly, I have very little energy any more defending any President when our real troubles lie in the Politicos for life in Congress, the Politicos for life in places like the State Dept and all of the lobbyists for life that run around Washington.
