Disney is getting involved in the White House's new "Let's Move" campaign. Their goal: Cure the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation. For their part, Disney is creating a series of public service announcements which will feature Disney characters encouraging kids to get active and eat healthy.

The spots will air later this year on Disney’s library of kid and family-oriented media platforms, including Disney Channel, Disney XD, Radio Disney and Disney.com.

According to Let's Move's stats, one third of American children are affected by obesity.

Well of course they are. Obama gave them a choo choo in Florida, running between the two major central Florida airports and the mouse house. It is useless for anything else but Disney. What you have here is the reach-around.

Ah, all their cartoons have “get up and move” and “eat good stuff” things going on already. Well, at least the ones that target under five year olds.

That’s funny, I don’t remember Disney caring about childhood literacy.

There is nothing wrong with eating a healthy diet. The onus is on parents, not the government.

Please also note that Disney doesn’t *just* support Obama, but they have thrown down the gauntlet to attack the conservatives.

Evidence: Disney buys Marvel Comics, then immediately “turns” Captain America against the “racist” Tea Party movement as “dangerous radicals”.

Which, if you think about it, is as bizarre as if Superman declared himself to be the “13th Imam”, and decides to cleanse the world of Christianity and Judaism, in the name of Allah.

How appropriate. The “LETS MOVE” theme will work for when the Obama’s are defeated in 2012 if they aren’t thrown out for fraud first. “He Michelle, Let’s Move.”

Doesn’t Disney have a lot of food they license, like Winnie the Pooh brand fruit juices? Except a lot of the stuff is not 100% juice and has high fructose corn syrup etc. in it...

Disney is a major food manufacturer, with a line of products specifically aimed at kids. Most of it not any healthier than what you could find in a McDonald’s Happy Meal, or for that matter, a federally subsidized school lunch.

I beg to differ with you, but Obama’’s ill intended “Light Rail” system between Orlando and Tampa will not carry many Disney visitors or Disney tourists. The overwhelming amount of tourists headed to Disney and beyond will rent cars at Orlando International Airport and will never use the light rail system, nor will Florida residents or out-of-state visitors. The details are long and demographic, but suffice to say that most of the surface traffic that travels the Orlando/Tampa corridor does not terminate in either Orlando or Tampa. Both Orlando amd Tampa are merely connecting depots to other Florida cities. Most auto or ground traffic goes on to other destinations, making the light rail system totally ineffective. It is truly a waste of our federal taxpayer money. Charlie Crist knows this, yet he kisses all over the mentally challenged POTUS Obama. As for the Mayor of Tampa, she is braindead out of the gate. Not a business man or woman among them. How’s that for hope and change, Florida taxpayers. I am happy you Florida fools or idiots also will be getting whacked in your personal pocketbook for this farce of an idea. This foolish idea of light rail was a dud twenty or thirty years ago, and it is still a dud today.

Disney channel is rife with save the planet environmentalism from teenage twits like iCarly and the Jonas Brothers.

Such a pleasure to be lectured to by pimple faced, pre menstrual know nothings.

So, let me understand this. Kids are going to sit in front of the TV, watching Disney cartoons, getting svelt. Okydokey.

Doublecheck your facts on that, Max. As far as I know, not the Walt Disney Co. nor Disneyland EVER organizes, sponsors, schedules, or arranges "Gay Days" in the parks. Those "Gay Days" events are ALL done independent of the Walt Disney Company, I'm pretty darned sure.

Certainly a whole lotta Disney employees are openly gay and proud of it. But here's the deal: if Disney knew that a whole bunch of gays were going to converge on any of their theme parks and decided then and there to disallow it ... DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE without seeing Disney get slammed with about $50 gazillion in discrimination lawsuits?

NO! IT WOULD NOT! PLEASE GET A CLUE!

Sorry about that, but it just fries my ass when people blithely blame Disney for something that they didn't arrange, didn't sponsor, and couldn't stop if they wanted to.

I hate Gay Days as much, if not more, than you do. Over the years, they have RUINED the parks for tens of thousands of families caught unaware -- you haven't lived until you've seen the "Gay Week" that they carry on at Walt Disney World in Florida. It's offensive, it's inconsiderate, it's a rotten thing to do to families ... and there's not a damned thing Disney can do to stop it, even if they wanted to, and I have a hunch there are some in the company who would like to stop those Gay Days if they could. Not many, but some ... and maybe even more than I think.
