You're right. One issue shouldn't preclude somebody from voting for someone.
However, shouldn't a discrepancy with a seminal Constitutional issue disqualify them from ever being elected in the first place?

Colin Powell for POTUS

Condoleeza Rice for POTUS

and Mike Steele for a lame RNC head

all because of WHAT they are in spite of obvious flaws in their ideology

and if one disagrees they are racist or bigot
