Of course it's nothing new. ~ALL~ nations mythologize their history to some extent. It helps to build group identity and skate over the more dodgy aspects.

The problem is which way the mythology is going to go now. I'm not an American and even I don't rate this direction.

Howard Zinn’s “history” text is myth too. Lies by omission are lies just the same.
