Biden: Iraq one of Obama's 'great achievements'
The Los Angeles Times ^ | February 11, 2010 | Andrew Malcolm

VP Biden went on CNN to chat with Larry King Wednesday.

Many recall Biden's plans to give in to Iraq's fractious factions and carve the country into three territories. And even more probably recall Biden's boss' plan to halt the Iraq war years ago.

Plus, of course, Obama's vehement opposition to the 2007 troop surge of you-know-who from Texas that Obama knew for certain was only going to worsen sectarian strife there.

Well, of course, it didn't turn out that way, thanks in large measure to the brave service of U.S. troops who served and helped peace to break out despite the loud political acrimony back home over their role.

Now, the Obama-Biden pair that opposed the Iraq war and its tactics and predicted their failure is prepared to accept credit for its success.

It seems that Biden is certain now that Iraq will turn out to be one of the Obama administration's greatest achievements.

No, really.

Here's how Biden put it to Lar:

I am very optimistic about -- about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I spent -- I've been there 17 times now. I go about every two months -- three months. I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society. It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.

Biden did not elaborate on what all the administration's other "great achievements" were so far.

No doubt, Iraqis too are very thankful for that 2008 election.

“I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration.”

Uncontrollable dishonesty wrapped in monumental arrogance topped off with desperation beyond decorum.

LOL! IF the wheel were to come to a vote today, the libs would vote against it because it contributes to global warming!

Or refer it to the EPA for an environmental impact study (which it would fail...)

Good point- Sarah should use this!

This is an LAT “blog.” Does that mean that regular readers of the newspaper don’t get to see it?

Biden is SUCH a jerk, it’s hard to see how even a CNN audience could swallow this. But I suppose there are few limits to the stupidity of CNN viewers—those that remain.

Biden amazes me, especially considering all Obama did was continue the withdrawal plans that were already in place by Bush.

Does anyone in his right mind believe that Obama had anything to do with the success in Iraq? The success of Iraq was due to Bush and Petraeus. Obama, Biden, and the entire democratic party declared Iraq a mistake and wanted to withdraw immediately. They declared Iraq a lost cause.

Obama voted against it, so did Biden, then they take credit for it working.

Sort of like Clinton, taking credit for the booming Reagan economy and heavy revenues enjoyed by the Government during the ‘90’s, that the Internet and Microsoft clearly created.

Let us pray that the American people aren’t going to fall for it. Surely, the average voter has to be smarter than this.

"Joe was the smart democrat foreign policy expert who wanted to divide Iraq into 3 parts because a united Iraq was ungovernable"

You've got to give Biden credit. The suggestion of dividing the country caused the three major factions to voice their first unanimous policy decision - Joe Biden is a friggin idiot and we won't pursue his suggestion to break into 3 independent, easily concurable countries.

What an embarrassment to the USA! Even dumb a$$ Nobama rolls his eyes at Joe Blow.

Interesting, that

“We got to take care of business before some idiot in the US Government really screws things up”

Kind of like “Camp David”, and Sadat and Begin deciding to come to terms before the incompetent Carter and his team screwed up everything

Ya think? I doubt it. I don’t think they want Caesar’s Legions anywhere on the home peninsula when they are gearing up to steal another election.

That last stroke must’ve really tweaked Joe’s brain? Sorry Joe Obama had nothing to do with how Iaq turned out because it was turned over to him in this shape. Now if you want to take credit for all of the latest bombings be my guest!
