So let me get this straight (pun most assuredly intended)..there's not a single state in which homosexual marriage has been enacted/approved in a statewide referendum and yet I'm supposed to believe that a majority...even a slim majority...of Americans support homosexuals in the military?

Sorry,I'm not buying it.

That’s my take on the issue.

How is it that a very small percentage of perverts command so much power?

Homosexuality was considered a mental illness when I served. The few that were found out were swiftly shown the door.

I continue to adhere to that diagnosis to this day. Mental illness has no place in our Armed Forces!

Gays may be serving in the military now and doing a good job - precisely because they must keep it hidden.

Once homosexuality is in the open in the military, the cultural rot begins.

Political correctness is death by a thousand pin-pricks. While the problems may not be obvious immediately, but when they do become obvious, it will be far too late.

We all know that Americans in 2010 are way too holy and righteous to approve of homosexuality. Debauchery is limited to tv and movies and maybe California. Poll must be bogus.

Poll results here: http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x1295.xml?ReleaseID=1422
Voters from military households with an active or reserve member or a veteran in their family split 48 - 47 percent on ending "don't ask; don't tell."

Support for repeal is 72 - 23 percent among Democrats and 56 - 37 percent among independent voters.

Republicans oppose repeal 53 - 40 percent.

--- In my interpretation...

40% of Republicans don't oppose repeal (or in other words 60% are presumed to not be advocating this new policy change).

Military families are split dead even on this (for/against), they probably needed a bigger sample pool.

This was found in the same poll:

Terror Trials

American voters say 59 - 35 percent that 9/11 terrorism suspects should be tried in military courts rather than in civilian courts, as currently planned. Voters say 68 - 25 percent that terrorism suspects should not receive all of the constitutional protections afforded by a civilian trial. Democrats prefer civilian courts 48 - 45 percent. Support for military courts is 73 - 23 percent among Republicans and 61 - 33 percent among independent voters.

The suspect who allegedly tried to blow up an airliner on Christmas Day should be tried as an enemy combatant rather than as an ordinary criminal, voters say 76 - 19 percent. But voters approve 52 - 42 percent of the FBI's advice to the suspect of his right to remain silent.

I see percents but I don't see the number of participants of each political ideology.

They sit on the bench in our courts and run newsrooms from coast to coast.

If don't-ask/don't-tell is so bad for the military, why are the homosexuals who drive the day's news silent about why this agenda means so much to them?

The anchors who have this desire should be upfront about who they are.

Quinnipiac is biased toward the left. Also, note that the respondents say that it’s OK for gays to serve, but that they should “limit displaying their sexual orientation on the job.”

In other words, they don’t quite understand the question, since that’s pretty much what “don’t ask, don’t tell” is. Clinton’s policy was actually a slight liberalization, since the previous policy was theoretically that it was wrong for gays to be in the military at all.

Also, as already said, I doubt whether they phoned any military bases to ask for responses. So they may have gotten a few vets, but the poll still was biased—in addition to their usual leftish bias.

“The poll found that 57 percent of US voters believe that gays should serve openly,...”
Yeah, and I’d bet 95%+ of those surveyed never served.

Can anyone point to a general public poll where the results were against allowing gays to openly serve in the military?

I spent 20 plus years in the Army. And I have been retired over 18 years. NEVER in all those years have I heard one veteran or one military retiree, NONE, say they agreed with homosexuals in our military. NONE, NONE, NONE!!!

I would like to know how we will identify gays in the military? Will they wear pink uniforms? or will we tattoo somthing on their forheads?

I am not for gays in anything, as I* don’t think the question should be asked at any time in public. I wasn’t asked if I was a heterosexual when I joined the Navy and I didn’t feel the need to tell everyone I wasn’t a queer..
