“Im curious - would you have her son go into an orphanage, or let her bring him with her?”
As an ADULT she has several choice:
A. Have a Plan B if mommy can’t take care of your child
or, what should have been plan A - I took an oath, I’ll keep my legs closed until I can make plans for this child that will not interfere with the oath I took.
She deserves a dishonorable discharge. There are many single parents deployed who are responsible and have made plans for their children without having to rely on mommy to bail them out.
Maybe, but not less that this precedent will.
“She is no longer in a relationship with the father of her 13-month-old son”
such a surprise..
I would like to see her sent on her way with a dishonorable discharge and a bill for all the training she had received.
It's going to be hard to have to bring up a baby again, right at the time when they were getting used to becoming empty nesters. But, just as their son has a duty to his country and the National Guard, they felt duty-bound to care for their grandson while their son returns to harm's way.
The single mom in this sory is just another welfare recipient, IMO. She should not be a single mom and be in the armed services. If her mother could have taken the child and did not, she, too is a disgrace.
I don’t know her particular situation, but my first thought was, “let Dad take care of him.”
Bullspit. She joined for the bennies and now she gets none. She is lucky, but this isnt "win-win".
She was demoted and lost all her benefits as well.
What the hell is a supposedly responsible adult soldier doing making babies with a guy who won’t even bother to marry her?
I know for a fact that contraceptives were available to her since she can’t manage to keep her panties on. All she had to do was use them, but apparently that was too much trouble.
Now some other soldier and his or her family is going to have to take up her slack.
