I’ve eyewitnessed a school administrator go off on parents, completely losing control of herself (the parents were calm), so a faculty member going off the deep end and taking it up a notch by shooting their coworkers is not a surprise to me.

Me too Jay. I grew up in Huntsville and still consider it one of my hometowns. Lot of memories from there during WWII.

I live in HSV and had the tv on another channel. One of the cable news stations had it happening at Bama. Turned it to a local station and it was here. Talked to my daughter who has some employees with kids going to UAH and all of them are fine. She said she was told that the people were on staff but did not know if that were all of the ones who died. She also said a couple was in custody. This info comes from her contacts at UAH and we know that info could be rumors. Prayers going up for everyone involved. She said that Center is where she has lots of meetings.

Yeah, I was surprised you weren't already on this thread, as you seem to stay right current with all local incidents in your area.

What a sad sad sad day for the University of Alabama....

Sounds like she was part of the entitlement generation. She KNEW she was entitled to tenure. Gratitude for what one receives is sorely lacking in many of the younger ones. I hope she gets the death penalty.

We all know that most college profs are liberals, but we can’t be so sure that this one is a lib. They don’t normally carry guns. Also if she was a lib then tenure would have been automatic. If there is even a hint that she is a conservative, we won’t hear the end of it. If she is a lib, we won’t hear anything about it after today.

What do you mean private sector? UAH is part of the University of Alabama.

I have a former Prof friend who was relieved she has tenure when the job cuts started coming in the private sector. She, of course, voted for Zero. She deosn’t see the correlation. I told her, in the real world the rest of us have to consistently perform well or we could lose our jobs. She is no longer a friend.

I wonder what length of time UAH required before one is up for tenure? My hubby had to teach for three years at his workplace before he was eligible.

Glenn Beck was just discussing the 'entitlement' crowd on his show tonight...one of the 'consequences' of the public school system.
