HUNTSVILLE, AL - There are reports of a shooting at UAHuntsville, at the Shelby Center. We understand the campus is in lockdown.
Sources close to the investigation tell WHNT NEWS 19 two people were killed and two are in critical condition. We understand two people are in custody, possibly a woman and her husband. They're not sure if there are other suspects out there. We've also been told all the victims are faculty.
The biol dept website is down, so that must be the one.
Yes it is. That’s why I rarely visit my kids there. Can’t stand to be in that environment. Force them to visit me.

There is tenure at private universities. It's the nature of the job, regardless of who's paying the bills.
I suppose that the tenure system is the only thing that stands between conservative profs and the outer hinterlands of academia.

I’m sure I would be. It was unrecognizable to me in 79. When I was a kid, I ran all over that town alone. Walked the railroad track from school to home. I have no idea how far those distances were. I know how things are much bigger when you are a kid.

Another update: 7 victims total (at this point). 3 dead; 3 critical; 1 serious (radio report simulcasted from TV).
Dr. Amy Bishop, a Harvard-University trained neuroscientist is the shooter along with her husband.

A relative of mine worked for a huge state university.....and the tales she tells can curl your hair. Money-wise there is corruption.....all they while they are corrupting our childrens' minds.....because the institutes of higher looning are seats of radical liberalism and as well as dog-eat-dog office politics.

Your assessment is likely correct. I live here, last week we had a student killed in middle school down the street. I am watching live news from local station and female UAH student is saying she would feel safer if she was allowed to carry her gun to school... she may have been able to save at least one life!

The campus alert system is being reported to have been very slow to respond (again: late during the campus tornado scare on Jan 21). Reportedly, the faculty got an email at 5:01pm (shooting was at 4:15); the students at around 5:08.
That’s where I saw it...a real charmer, isn’t she?
