Of course, it does matter how you bring up any dog, they have to be nurtured, loved taken care of. Carefully selecting which breeder and litter to chose from is key to not being stuck with a Psycho-mutt. (no pun intended)
I used to breed and raise Rottweilers and they have the equipment and potential to be extremely dangerous if not handled properly. Even under the best care and handling, they can never be completely trusted. Pit Bulls are particularly dangerous in that respect, as statistics prove.
I realize you love the breed and trust them, based on your own experience, but many who have had a dog turn killer all say the same thing. They completely disbelieve that their little marshmallow-fluff-ball “family love-bug” just attacked and severely mauled a 5 year old, completely without warning.
There are plenty of people who are too stupid and irreponsible to recognize dangerously aggressive behavior in their dog.
But then I would guess that many of those same people, after an incident with their dog that could result in monetary damages or criminal penalty, are not stupid enough to say, after a dog bite, "yeah, we knew he was crazy, dangerous, and unstable, but we kept him around the kids anyway."
I found a bunch of stats online too that make your stats look over-hyped... seems the site you cite hates all kinds of breeds....
Breed haters... what is wrong with thee?
