Try to get a grip. The people of the South, 90% didn't own slaves, but wanted out of the Union. They fought, bled and died to try to get away from centralized federalism. This is Fact. Slavery was the excuse to get away. It could have been about tulip bulbs.

In recent decades the Left has been trying to transform the Confederacy into the nineteenth-century version of Nazi Germany and Robert E. Lee into an American Hitler. There are even some Freepers who have drunk that Koolade.

sadly you’re right, it is a shame that some think because they read one book on the subject or read a few websites that they then think they know all about the war.

I’ve been looking at this war for over a decade and history for over 20 years and I still am learning about it every day.

For to get the real idea about the war you have to read memoirs from back in the day on both sides and it is really revealing how they thought of the war and slavery back then.

I was at a reenactment this weekend near me and there was a group of confederates and all black, A black woman went up to them and asked them why the hell are they wearing that uniform and why would they even think of it and the black confederates response was “you don’t know much about history do you’?.
She asked what they meant and they went on to explain how their ancestors fought for the confederacy and that the yankees killed their own ancestors etc

the woman thank them in the end and said she had never even heard of that and she hoped more would find out the truth
