"Women Say Some Rape Victims Should Take Blame"

Date rape has been in our lexicon for a few decades now, fact is a majority of people have become quite familiar with the lines that separate consensual and non consensual sex. However, our present attitude about rape was not always the same as it is today. There has always been warnings to girls that they should not allow themselves to be in certain situations that could lead to unwanted advances from boys. There has been many a woman who has claimed they were raped while the only defense the man had was the girl allowed things to progress past a point of no return for him.

I remember when I was but 12 years old, and I would accompany my older sister and her friend to the beach. My sisters always wore a one piece, but her friend would always wear this practically see-through white bikini just to lie down on a towel to sunbath. I must admit that I paid close attention to her as she laid there on her towel. After all, I was but six removed from being a full fledged teenager, and my hormones were already beginning to cause problems in my life. It was the late “60”s and I was well aware of the sentiment that we should love the one we were with if we could not be with the one we loved. Then again, I also remember the same girl telling my sister that a boy she was making out with on the beach raped her one day.

My sister convinced her to report it to the police and after some investigation they decided that there was no way they would be able to get a conviction because of the way the girl carried on with the boy on the beach. Now, today the results of the investigation would be much different as we now have the understanding that “no” means “no”, regardless of when during the encounter a girl uses that word. It is true though, that regardless of which side of the argument you agree with, someone will inevitably have a strongly felt conviction of why you are wrong. Personally I believe that everyone involved needs to take responsibility for how they conduct themselves. I also believe that such an accusation or charge can always be avoided if everyone obeyed God's precepts that only couples who are married should be having sex. So in my opinion, obeying this simple command could......

“Sorry, the “She Was Asking For It” defense is lame”

Agreed,, the drunk with the money hanging out of his pockets, in the dark alley analogy was dead right. Yes, the guy is asking for it, but that can never excuse the robber.

And his story about the girl on the beach in a bikini asking to be raped is a poor example of the problem. The problem is that the girls gone wild culture has women accusing boyfriends of rape after a consentual encounter, because they were very drunk,, and the guy should have read their mind, to know what she would think tomorrow,,,,,sober.

"OV is one of my favorite writers and he has nailed it again"

No.

Bull. No should have meant no BEFORE she started winding up that boy.

Truth does not change.

You know, I don’t go along with the muslim belief that a woman parading around in western dress is like leaving uncovered meat out where the cat can get it. But if the modern attitude is such that it encourages women to throw all caution to the winds (he BETTER not touch me), then maybe we NEED to turn the clock back some.

YEs, but once the act is literally underway, it can’t be undone if she changes her mind then.

ITA with you and the article. If a woman says “yes”, it’s yes. Otherwise, women can (and do) cry RAPE when they were totally consensual up to the very last moment. How is a man (or jury) supposed to know if “no” really was “no” after the fact???

You know, in some ways only straight men and homosexual women would have sympathy for a woman who cries rape. Regular women can’t stand a b!+ch like that.

My point is this, if some two people start having consenting sex and then one suddenly says ‘no’ then that does NOT make it non-consensual... at that point, whether or not the other stops is irrelevant to whether the act was consensual because IT WAS.

Just like a credit card means agreeing to an “I will pay at such and such date” buying things and then deciding that you don’t want them does NOT absolve you from having to pay for them. (Though there are stores and such with return policies that does not refute my argument.)

So the woman has a change of heart and says "No, stop, I don't want to do this. Please get off of me" and the man continues to have sex with her, he's NOT raping her?

Riiiight. Sorry, but "Please get off of me" means "Please get off of me". Not "I'm not happy with this but go ahead anyway."

And to compare a woman who did not want to have sex and was eventually raped to a credit card purchase?

Some women even accuse date rape because the guy doesn’t call them again.

...or the check bounced.

So true,, good women hate that mentality. And a false accuser, is a true nightmare for real women. The doubt they create in our culture is precisely the reason that true victims are sometimes doubted.

A true rape victim must be disgusted at being compared to some ex-girlfriend who says she was raped because the guy she was doinking (and had doinked many times before)refused to stop to put a condom on. PC silliness,,, but ill shut up before i arouse the anger of the cult of the sisterhood.

This was the case in my post #7. I was waiting to see if anyone pounced. After “John” was “in the saddle”, they started talking (note: bad idea)... “Marsha”, proud of her unique and risque locale, inquired if John liked this special place of theirs. John, all looks and no brains, said it wasn’t his first time in ye ole store room. Her Yes quickly turned to No, but the act could not be undone. Still, rape was the claim but it all came out later when the other “irritated” office girls and the other “Johns” came forward.

Yes it can. Sex is not a instant event. Think of it like this.
1)You invite someone over to your house. (They are not trespassing)
2)You hang out and talk. (Still not trespassing)
3)They get bit annoying. (Still fine)
The friends gets nuts and starts shout. (Still not trespassing).
4)You ask them to leave and they don't go. (NOW they are trespassing and breaking the law)

He does not get to stay as long as he likes just because you invited him in. You have the right to tell anyone to leave your home at any time. They are required by law to leave when asked.
Sex is like that. Just because she says once does not cover the whole event, and just because she says 'no' half way through does not retroactively change things before that point. But, the man does not have the right to over stay his welcome. She CAN break it off at any time. ANY time. Because it is her her right as a human.

Let me get this straight. No always means no, but yes does not always mean yes?

Truth does not change. Our grandparents generation’s way of dealing with this stuff was right, and not evil. Our generation has insane contradictory views that they want to apply to the world, making everyone a criminal, or in danger of being a criminal, which is one of the key elements of control that socialism uses.

You have to have some kind of basic morality and expect basic morality from your girls and from your boys. You can’t fit it up into a quick soundbite.

There’s TV I was watching 20 years ago that everyone laughed at & was mainstream, but now if you make those same jokes people literally think you’re hitler. It’s ridiculous. Society needs to get a damn grip on itself.
