President Obama justifies closing the Guantanamo prison because it "serves as a recruiting tool for al-Qaida, and will remove the motivation for joining" the maniacal group. The United States "will be safer as a nation."
A corollary action grants terrorists the legal rights of American citizens. All is to heal America's purported worldly "black eye," caused by "inexcusable" acts of physical and psychological coercion on captives.
History proves President Obama terribly wrong. Radical Islam, like Nazi Germany and Soviet Bolshevism, is an ideological movement inherently and immovably hostile to America. Mass murderers are not swayed by concessions but emboldened, seeing weakness to be exploited. The self-delusion was known as "appeasement."
The first World Trade Center bombing in 1993, Osama bin Laden's declaration of war on America in 1998, deadly attacks on the USS Cole and African embassies and the 9-11 atrocity came long before the existence of U.S. terrorist prisons. The president wants us to forget these unpleasant facts.
