Why everyone's sick of Washington
NY Post ^ | February 17, 2010 | MAGGIE GALLAGHER

Even in the midst of economic and political melt down, Sen. Evan Bayh was still between 10 and 20 points ahead of his potential Republican challengers. Why did the Indiana Democrat announce he will not run for re-election?

"Even pols are sick of Washington," blared the Politico.com headline. Bayh's friend and ex-chief of staff, former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, told the press, "Those frustrations have increasingly worn on him, and I think his willingness to tolerate the frustrations has decreased over time."

Evan Bayh is tired of being the middle patch of ground in a culture war that never seems to end, never seems to get anywhere.

Bad spirits and mojo in Washington.

We must cut the cables and feeding tubes connected to outside interests.

Like the Middle East.

Evan Bayh complaining about "excessive partisanship in Washington" is akin to an arsonist complaining about easy access to matches.

Now Obama has transformed himself into a symbol of politicians who are so principled that they don't care what the American people think.

Oh Please! Yeah, the guy is just another Abe Lincoln doing what is right based on principles! ;-)

Here's the deal.

You can't compromise with evil. Any compromise with evil is still evil.

The left has to be thoroughly and completely defeated....driven from power and NEVER allowed to regain it. Decent Americans who believe in freedom must drop everything and tear these communists out of the government, root and branch.

They must be driven into the ground like tent stakes if our children are to have any hope for a decent future.

Evan Bayh complains of partisanship.

How many times did he cross the line and vote against his own party. How many times did he go to Harry Reid and tell him he was wrong? How many times did he meet with his Republican colleagues and try to work out a compromise.

To be honest, I’m a little uneasy with the rats jumping ship like this. This is beyond poll figures. I’m afraid they know something we don’t know.

They are doing what they did last year. Putting poison pills in the economy to reap political benefit, the heck with the good of the country.

Heck, the press blamed every damage they caused on Bush, why should the coming meltdown be any different? And the pubs will be in when we can’t fund a single thing and the economy is in hyperinflation or whatever it’s being set up to do.

My personal opinion backed up by no facts whatsoever is that he sees the coming economic meltdown and just doesn’t want to be a part of a political organization tagged with the blame and also the responsibility of trying to clean it up. Like I said, just a random thought.

What don’t we know? That the Federal Reserve money is paper? That we are serfs on the way to slavery?

Maybe a birth certificate surfaced or worse.

The Democrats and RINO's have a LOT to fear, especially given the rapidly rising Tea Party movement.

Don't be surprised that both Senator Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi have to face an angry voter base in the 2010 election season. Remember, pocketbook issues override EVERYTHING and regardless of race, ethnicity or even sexual preference if you can't get a job and/or face higher income tax bills, you want someone representing you that can ensure jobs are back and lower your tax bills in the long run.

I predict he’s positioning himself for a presidential bid. By 2012, he’ll be ready to run as a pricipled “outsider” coming in to clean up the mess.

How much lower can the poll numbers get?

Maybe they do know something’s up - possibly involving the national debt that they accumulated - but the polls show the congress creeps at rock bottom. With Scott Brown’s win in MA, the Dems have got to be scared sick just on the basis of the stuff the public is aware of.

If someone in Bayh’s position can’t see the writing on the wall, who the H can?

Reid, yes. But Pelosi? She represents a gerrymandered, extreme left district inhabited by some of the most bizarre characters in the country. Her only fear is an attack from her left for not getting Obamacare and Cap&Tax through. I haven’t heard of her getting a primary challenge but it would be fun to watch if she did.

He gave us the reason...he’s an executive rather than 1 of 100 egos trapped in a dysfunctional body. Pres or nothing and Dems will be looking for centrists in ‘12.
