In Florida, we got rid of them all together, maybe Virginia should take a hint. The emissions checks were of some minor value before virtually all vehicles were equipped with computer controlled fuel injection. If there is a problem with the system or one of its sensors, that little light comes on the dash to let you know it needs looking into.
