Cobb: Pit Bull Attacks Child

(WSB Radio) -- A seven-year-old girl is recovering after she was attacked by a pit bull mix. Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce tells WSB the little girl was walking home from school in front of the Valley View Mobile Home Park near Eastside Drive, when the dogl came after her. That's when a neighbor, who saw what was happening, ran to her aid, possibly saving her life.

"He went out with a piece of wood and actually struck the dog and was able to get the dog off of the seven-year-old girl," said Pierce. He then scooped the child up and took her to Kennestone Hospital. She was then airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston with a serious leg wound.

"Those injuries to her leg were originally thought to be very, very serious. Those injuries and her condition have since been upgraded," said Pierce.

The dog is in the custody of animal control and will likely be euthanized. Charges are pending against the dog's owner.

I just got the laugh for the day....Checked up on our friend a ridgerunner. He was part of a Freepathon of pit bull lover that went after Chet99 on 4-17-09. They were pledging money to F. Republic if Chet99 went X amount of days not posting pit bull articles... That was the first pit bull article I ever went on...those people called names galore...I still remember some of the names, but aridgerunner didn't make much of an impression on me at the time....

“Police reports taken hospital records etc....look somemore you are missing a lot.”
~~~
It seems that the PBA will not admit that these attacks
are found by local police reports/scanners,,,
I worked at the local rag for over 5 years (pressroom),,,
This was 69-75,,,
They do the very same thing today,,,
No Way that anybody gets killed/mauled without the media
being all over it,,,
Why don’t they use a German Shepherd or a Yorkie in all
these Dawg Fights that we hear of ??!...;0)
LOL. I cannot have my own facts? Let's even things out, shall we? You can't have yours either. When you make a statement like this: "these dogs have genetic backgrounds that make them unpredictable and not to be trusted" prepare to be challenged, because this statement is not fact. It is utterly false on its face.
The rest has been beaten to death.
You seem like a fairly decent person, granny, just mistaken. (besides, I like goats:)) I really wish I had enough money to hire you to do some research, as I do have a project and no time, but you'd have to drop the poisoned bias and be objective.
I wanted any science behind your statement that "these dogs have genetic backgrounds that make them unstable and not to be trusted". There isn't any facts (scientific or otherwise) to back that statement up.
Advice: Learn the difference between fact and opinion.
The statistics clearly back up the statement. It's math not science.
Advice:
1) learn the difference between the two, and
2) follow your own advice.
The LOL is one you darlin. Got your number on 4-17-09. Granny is rarely mistaken, and this is not one of the times..
*** but you'd have to drop the poisoned bias and be objective. you wrote***
Objectivity is not on the side of the pit lovers. Anyone that calls truth about the breed poison bias, I wouldn't work for even if you had the money..But there are enough of those pit lovers that would work for you cheap...:O)
Euthanize is just a kind way of kill the piece of shit!
Now, when people finally get sick of this crap happening we will see entire neighborhoods policing for the protection of their young ones!
I don’t condone it, but truly understand it!
That's just it, granny. You don't have the truth.
But carry on anyway.
"Ironically, a good pit bull is typically as affectionate toward humans as it is possible for a dog to be, as their fighting instincts are primarily directed toward other dogs."
We have a staffy living with us right now who is the biggest sap under the sun.His behaviour regarding people is faultless,he oozes 'cute' and never ever once in the 5 yrs my son has owned him has he looked at anyone suss.However those cheeks full of muscle tell me never to ever trust him carte blanche.
He is one of the most loving members of our family but we watch him because of what he is.
"We called that a Free-Fire Zone in the olden days,,,LOL,,,"
Some buddies who were infantry in the 101st in Nam told me about that. ...haven't heard of free-fire zones since. And yes, there were three of those combat-type old-timers in one of my units during the '90s--one in the motor pool and two medics detached to us when we were in the field.
"Gunna be a whole lotta trash taken out if/when the wheels
come off and the lights go out,,,MUAhahahahaha...;0)
P.S. : The local thugs never got that memo...
"
Yes. After a disaster, police (and/or National Guard on humanitarian duty) like to give people more slack to defend themselves (except maybe in mobbed-up places like N'Orleans). The policy after Hurricane Celia allowed looters to be shot, so there wasn't much trouble with it. They'd probably be even more likely do the same, if government revenues get slim enough to make them short-handed. They would for sure around here.
Learn how to read. We weren’t talking about statistics.
We were not talking at all. Now, are we done splitting your dumb-a$$ hairs?
Will you next argue that astronomy does not show pit bulls are dangerous? Perhaps geography?
It's about evidence, and you need to stop trying to slant the discussion in an absurd effort to deny what is obvious.
IMHO : At some point we will have to defend ourselves
against whatever comes down the road,,,
We have to do that now in many places,,,
Some areas of Shreveport are/were NO~GO zones for the
mailman and the cops,,,
Local black preachers whined-n-cried because the checks
were not brought to the mailbox of the peeps,,,
Mailman got tired of being chased by pits and shot at
by the local thugs,,,
This area near I-49 is infamous around here,,,
Harp St. is another NO~GO zone,,,(same reason),,,
Lakeside is also an area that the thugs/pits control,,,
The cops ran away from a riot in that area,,,
I lived near that area,,,Long Night,,,
Another riot was in Cedar Grove,,,thug/pit area,,,
It got to the point that I had to keep my Springers in
the house to keep them safe from attack,,,
Just like I have to do now with my yorkie...
I lived in a neighborhood like that during the late ‘70s and early ‘80s (my earlier adult years). Police wouldn’t go there, unless they absolutely had to, and then only with two cars and a fire team each with shotguns. ...rarely. ...over 300 bodies each year from unsolved homicides in that small part of the metro alone and over 300 on the other side of the river. Even rough, tough buddies in my motor-sickle club were terrified of that place.
But there weren’t any pit bulls in that neighborhood in those days. The mailmen did fine. There were many whole, decent families even in those neighborhoods back then.
The best sit-rep I can give for this AO is this whole mess
is goin’ down the tube,,,
Shreveport is now about 70% black now,,,
The Katrina crowd left their “pets” and bought new one’s
here and have stayed,,,
That's when the thug/turd next door made his money...
Yep.
Argue that one with granny. She might be an astronomer.
Maybe the best way to get rid of the pits is to hammer the
insurance companies to kill the coverage of the owners,,,
I don't want MY rates to go up because some Idiot wants
to have a Pit or a Tiger or an Alligator or a Bear
in their house,,,
No insurance = No loan...
Seriously, that’s a great idea about talking to insurance companies.
You know, though, I thought a time or two about building two sets of strong wood panel fences around the place, about twenty yards apart. ...all the way around the place, and putting some boars in that area between the fences and neglecting them—boars that never had their tusks or testicles cut. Oh...feeding them, of course, but being just plain rude to them and not rubbing their backs with a stick or anything. ...just growl and scowl at ‘em once in a while from behind the inner fence.
...sorta like havin’ a moat around the place. ;-) But nawwww. It would cost too much, and I don’t need it. ;-)
[Your idea is a good one, and the rest my reply was not sincere at all.]
