WASHINGTON (AP) - The capture and interrogation of Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar could help unravel the Afghan insurgency, but it's less likely to lead U.S. forces to Osama bin Laden.

In nearly two weeks of interrogation in Pakistan, the Taliban operations chief has provided limited information, officials said. In his discussions with his Pakistani captors, Baradar has focused on his own fate and not provided full details about the location of fellow insurgents or weapons caches.

But, but I thought being nice and asking "pretty please with sugar on top" was supposed to be more effective than "enhanced" techniques.

Pak security is taking the lead... our guys are forced to watch on closed circuit... until they are told not to watch. All conjecture on my part.

I kinda hope we don’t get Bin Laden. He’s a lousy leader, and if we take the SOB out, Al Qaeda is likely to replace him with somebody a lot more effective. I hope Osama lives a long life in whatever cave he is holed up in, and continues to be the All Powerful Leader of Al Qaeda. While revenge would be fun, there’s nothing like your enemy having an in-effective leader. I wouldn’t be surprised if we already know where he is and we are just letting him percolate.

Regardless of how high up in the terrorist food chain this guy is, expect the MSM to act like this is the greatest achievement in the Global War on Manmade Tragedy, and we cal all thank Obama for this great acheivement.

AP tries to make this guy out as a Boy Scout.................

“the growing hope”... he would play the “broker”
..could point to “moderates who are approachable” and warn away from hard-liners

He cautioned Taliban fighters against brutalizing civilians and pressing them to try and avoid killing innocents in suicide bombings.

His Hard liners are engaging our USMC hardliners. Take the gloves off........... or call it a day.

WEll, Holder does have at least 6 in his office that have previously defended terrorists - so they probably are ready for service -

Lousy leader? I think AQ has done lots of damage and remains a formidable foe.

“I hope Osama lives a long life in whatever cave he is holed up in”

To each his own I guess. Personally I hope Osama dies a painful death on video which then gets uploaded to youtube.

I won’t go into details why I think UBL is not effective. You never know who reads these things. But, after 9-11, there has been very little terrorism inside the country. Either our government is doing a very good super great job on this, or UBL is not so hot in his leadership role. While I am sure the CIA/FBI shines at times, we are pretty much an open country.

Imagine WWII. Hitler can be the boss of Germany, or someone just as mean and nasty, but with good leadership qualities. Let’s see, Hitler Classic delays deployment of ME 262 trying to turn it into a jet bomber. Hitler II says, “Get them things in action asap like my generals want. Make a zillion of them” Which would you prefer? Same here.
