No sooner had John Murtha been laid to his final rest than Johnstown's legendary minor-league hockey team announces they are leaving. The owners are astute enough to know that without Murtha and his direct pipeline into D.C. pork, there IS NO economy in Johnstown. Might as well beat the rush...

Broome Dusters was an all-time great ECHL name.
Perhaps second only to the Macon Whoopee (GA).

I agree, ECHL is affordable and fun. At least I still
have the Wheeling Nailers close by. At least until Robert
Byrd assumes room temperature...

What I heard was that the Albany team was moving to Charlotte, and the guy who owns the Checkers was considering moving to Greensboro.

A few years ago, I went to a Hurricanes game, and it was pretty good. A couple of weeks later, I went to a Generals game, and it was a lot better.

The minor league guys are hungry for a major league spot, and they show it.

one of the Hansen Brothers still lives here in Pittsburgh.
He manages the Island Sports Center where the Robert Morris University hockey team plays it’s home games.

I used to go to when the kids were little, they loved it.

In-between periods the team PR guys used to slingshot balled up T-shirts into the crowd. The kids and I made a huge target circle on a poster board with HIT THIS! painted on it. The first game we used it the guy fired five T-shirts at us trying to hit it, we got four of them.

Same thing for for the frisbees, we got a bunch of those as well. As I said, the kids loved it.

What a great idea! We’ve tried holding up money if they can get one to our section but it hasn’t worked.
