Bite the Hand That Feeds You: Essays and Provocations (Joseph Stack a fan?)- Rush Bump!

There is an interesting quote at the end of Joseph Stack's suicide note: The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.. This quote is from a book by Henry Fairlie titled Bite the Hand That Feeds You: Essays and Provocations

The Amazon.com description of this book is:

A native British wit expresses an adopted American ebullience in this sparkling collection of political journalism and commentary. Fairlie (1924–1990) migrated from London to the U.S. in the 1960s, where his writings in the Washington Post, the New Republic and elsewhere both celebrated and pilloried the American scene. The unstuffy Brit applauds America's informality, its gadgetry, its abundance and vastness, and its personification in a cowboy-poet named Hooter he meets in a Mankato, Minn., bar, but he's appalled by its politics. An avowed Tory in Britain, he discovers conservatism's Reaganite version to be narrow-minded and selfish and mean-spirited; he duly eulogizes FDR, attacks George F. Will and denounces government bashing as the sneer of patronizing and vaulting privilege at the needs of ordinary people that can be served only by government. Whether stomping on the dangerous insects in the Washington media corps or defending his beloved Scotch whiskey against the Perrier water fad that prompted the abandonment of... a wholesome and convivial liquor for a suspect Gallic product, Fairlie's elegantly pugilistic prose still feels fresh—and surprisingly relevant to today's politics.

Other digging into Fairlie shows he started out as a Tory but became an FDR fan leftist with shades of Lyndon Larouche thrown in. Joseph Stack has a unique

>According to the MSM he was a Right Wing Nutcase.

According to the DHS anyone who disagrees with any of the President’s policies at all is a Right Wing Nutcase...

If you read the “manifesto”, you might start off and say...”Okay. He has an issue with taxes. Could be a Tea Party type...” (but only if you ignore the tone)

Then you read further, and you see:

1.) Hates George W. Bush.

2.) Hates Capitalism.

3.) Hates the Insurance Companies.

4.) Quotes Karl Marx.

He is a deranged moonbat. Game. Set. Match. I reject that POS completely. I have a small degree of sympathy because he appears to be mentally ill, but he squandered that by taking out innocent people instead of flying his worthless ass into the side of a deserted mountain.

About taxes, though, the unhinged killer was right. Even the people charged with enforcing tax laws don’t profess to understand all of them. We desperately need reduction and simplification of our taxes.

They understand enforcing them enough to realize when people have set up a fake church to game the system, as this murderer had done. They understand when you don't list $12,000 of income on your tax forms. This guy tried to manipulate the system, got burned, and then shelled out a manifesto hitting some buttons. For once, I really do wish the FBI had pulled this garbage he wrote before anyone could have read it. Murderers who commit suicide don't deserve to have last words. Period.

Like I said - people read what they want to into his last screed.

He said a lot of things. Lots of them contradicted each other. He never said he loved Obama - he said that he was furious at the health care system. You just IMPLY that he must like Obamacare. Many people think that the current system sucks without liking the alternative bill. He hated the IRS - do you think Olbermann hates taxes? (Hell, even Olbermann called this guy a terrorist.)

You’re paying attention to the words that support your opinion and ignoring the rest of the 5000. Yell all you want but it won’t change the fact that the guy was no Communist. Communists love the idea of taxes - how else can they confiscate wealth?

You are full of crap. I READ what he WROTE, in the entirety.

His worldview is that of a leftwinger who was AUDITED.

If Keith Olbermann were to be nailed in an IRS audit, his screed would be EXACTLY like that of this wacko.

- we can be sure that IRS auditors would now be the "worst persons in the world"

- health insurance companies would still be killing tens of thousands of people

- the puppet Bush would still have his cronies

- Capitalism would still be for the gullible and the greedy, and so on and on.

You are posturing with a false "above it all" perspective, the old phony game of "since the left is blaming the right, and the right is blaming the left, I deem that they are both wrong, and I am therefore in a superior position."

You sound like that idiot Bill O'Reilly in his worst moments of fake "evenhandedness" for "the folks" where strawmen "far right" and "far left" are always "both wrong."

The only news I hear from them is at the top of the hour and I try to block it out. But there are allot of people that still do and listen to every word they say.

It was the first act of a man who called for future like minded individual to rise up and strike at the government. Not on buildings but PEOPLE.

HE called his act one of VIOLENCE.

Charles Bishop called his act “terrorist” in his suicide note. It was later scratched out but since the authorities denied it was intentional in the first place, I'll hold some skepticism that Charles Bishop/Bishra was the one to scratch it out seeing as it was in the first sentence of a two page letter.
