Id like to dismiss the old ladies that pour on the chemically-laden cologne (because their sense of smell has diminished and they dont know when to stop) Amen!
I used to work near such a person, she wasn't old either. She must have bathed in the stuff.

If you’ve ever been stuck next to somebody with serious BO, the stench can make you physically ill. Not just too much cologne, or even honest sweat, but a genuine bum who hasn’t washed or changed clothes for years can make you barf.

me too!
My sense of smell is very good. Sometimes its a curse!

Id like to dismiss the old ladies that pour on the chemically-laden cologne (because their sense of smell has diminished and they dont know when to stop) and come and plop next to me at mass.I am with you, there. I can put up with nearly any amount of natural odors, but chemical perfumes make my eyes bleed. I'll take the train... and I won't be found in coach... I'd rather be in a livestock car...

I was thinking the same thing. Can we ban the people who insist on marinating in cologne so much that you can see the blue scent cloud around them?

I always think, how did we survive back before people regularly bathed? Everybody smoked?

It's possible, I suppose, that Michael Moore was the passenger asked to get off the plane.
My guess, though, is that it is more likely to be this person (and I know, the article says that "he" was asked to get off the plane.....I've long suspected that Helen thomas is a really old guy in very bad drag):

I'm happy to see others are offended as well. We used to babysit for some kids whose mother must have put an entire package of Bounce fabric softener in her kids' load, because you could smell these kids before they fully exited from the car. I asked her if her kids could change into something our children had (they were the same sizes), and she threw an absolute fit. (She was stinky too.:))

In february of 1987, I was departing from Milan on a half-empty (based on a gate agent) Alitalia flight back to Chicago and LA. However, at the last minute, the company decided to move a whole bunch of Iranians onto our flight and pushed back the departure time.
After reaching cruising altitude, some of the men removed their shoes and it started to smell like a barnyard. Unfortunately, many of the LA-bound Iranians looked like they just got done goat-herding. Boy, talk about torture! Forget waterboarding.

I worked in a retail store in the S.F. Bay Area back in the early ‘80s, and this older couple used to come in occasionally. The staff had nicknamed them “The S-—ts”, because that’s what they smelled like.
They never did buy soap.

On a flight I was on, they removed the seat after they asked the passenger to deplane. It was a United flight, about 1.5 years ago.

Even the Amish bathe before taking a bus or train or plane trip. But don’t get near them on a Friday after a hot summer week. Saturday is bath night.

Some years ago, my late wife and I visited Stratford-upon-Avon, England. We’d seen a play presented by the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the following day, we took a guided tour of the village. Our guide/docent was a retired professor of English Literature and described at great length the personal hygiene habits of Shakespeare’s time. He said that the reason that we have June Weddings is because the June was the traditional month for bathing. Brides and grooms cleaned up nicely for the wedding then carried on stinking for the rest of the year. Nobody else bathed either.
