NOTE: Photo included.
SNIPPET: "On Jan. 18, Lachlan Cranswick left the Chalk River nuclear facility, where he worked, and took a bus to Deep River, the small town on the Ottawa River where he lived.
The 41-year-old physicist, whose job entailed running experiments for the National Research Council, had just finished some work for a researcher overseas and left his findings on his desk, to be mailed later.
Sometime that night or the next morning, he took his garbage bins outside for pickup.
Then, he vanished without a trace.
When he didn't show up for work for several days and missed a game with the local curling club, of which he was a devoted member, his friends went looking for him."

Dude discovered the invisibility formula, is my bet!
ON THE TEHRAN EXPRESS.
Radiation may have rendered him invisible and hes having with it; or maybe he is now trans-dimensional and has broken through to the other side?
The link above is a the url/photo link of missing scientist, Lachlan Cranswick.
Note to Mr. Cranswick, I am praying for you sir.

“Sudden disappearance of Deep River scientist mystifies colleagues”
(CP) 3 hours ago
SNIPPET: “His job involved collaborating with visiting scientists from across Canada and around the world who would come to the lab to use its specialized equipment.”
SNIPPET: “One of those interests was curling, Banks said, adding Cranswick was on the local club’s executive.
In fact, the scientist had taken some vacation days and was only reported missing when he failed to show up for a tournament.”
Too many rivers.
Thank you very muche EBH.
“Scientist’s disappearance baffles investigators
Brother, friend fear foul play”
BY MEGHAN HURLEY, THE OTTAWA CITIZENFEBRUARY 4, 2010
SNIPPET: “”I’m personally thinking some misfortune fell on him. Either he got hit by a vehicle, or someone took him away,” Knight said. “I just can’t think of anything else. I just can’t see him running off.”
Knight and friends put up missing-person posters all over the town and beyond, reaching out to anyone who might have information. Police have also interviewed everyone who has had contact with Cranswick in the last few months.
Cranswick has worked for the NRC’s Canadian Neutron Mean Centre for seven years, examining the structure of chemicals.
“His collaborators from universities across Canada praise his effectiveness in supporting their research,” said Daniel Banks, a spokesman for the centre. “He was a driving force in developing our scientific tools to the leading edge.””
I hope not.
He looks like Sheldon!
Hope they find him unharmed.
Interesting discussion; more photos ON THE INTERNET:
ON THE INTERNET:
Another theory: Some terror group has an interest in the Charles River nuclear facility as a TARGET. They abducted him to get information regarding facility entry protocols, layout of the factiliy, location of sensitive materials....something like that.
That’s another THEORY.
The photo the article used is old. 2002ish.
Why wouldn’t they have used his photo ID from the lab or something more recent?
A lot of possibilities — I won’t speculate.

Charles River Nuclear Facility
Totally unrelated, Deep River, ON is home to Laurentian View Dairy. Best ice cream in Canada.
I gleaned from the various news articles that he wasn’t depressed and not suicidal.
I love ice-cream.
whistle to ward off wildlife ......
Colt makes a much better option!
I know Larry.
The background on this gentleman is basically book nerd/computer geek.
Is Lachlan another in the smiley face murders?
Still another theory is that he is in the same palce as all the other nuclear scintists which have dissapeared in the last 10 years...
Might be of interest, might be nothing.
Two Nuclear Physicists Dead, One Missing Since December 2009
Best ice cream between Ottawa and Winnepeg.
he took his garbage bins outside for pickup = dragged off by a bear
My first thought, too.
He looks like a man with a secret.
Just my opinion.
I love that movie!
Did some research to add to your thread, on the other.
They didn’t know he was working on a time machine out in his garage. He went out there to test it out a bit and things didn’t go well. He was supposed to take another machine along with him but it appears he left it behind. This is all being covered up by big oil, big auto, and Big Sister.
They said the same thing about Bilbo, until Gandalf showed up with a gang of dwarves; then he took off, willy-nilly, without even his pocket handkerchief.
Thank you for the link EBH.
Older web pages ON THE INTERNET:
After spending more than a month searching for a missing Deep River, Ont. scientist, Ontario Provincial Police say they have done everything they can to track him down, but have exhausted all the possible leads.
Lachlan Cranswick vanished on Jan. 18 after leaving work at the National Research Council's Canadian Neutron Beam Centre in Chalk River, and was reported missing a few days later when the avid curler failed to show up for a tournament.
Police searched the home of the 41-year-old and found his front door was unlocked. Inside, his wallet and passport were still there -- as well as his car. Authorities searched nearby trails thinking he may have gone for a walk, but his friends noted the safety-conscious scientist never strayed far without a GPS. They ended up finding no trace of him.
Colleagues say Cranswick, 41, did not appear to be depressed before he disappeared.
