(Michael Steele) ObamaCare Returns: Time to Send a Clear Message to Washington
Big Government ^ | February 22, 2010 | Michael S. Steele

Posted on 02/22/2010 10:30:01 AM PST by maggief

Disgusted by President Obama’s liberal agenda, voters in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts went to the polls and replaced Democrats with Republicans to send a message to Washington. That message is: Stop.

stop_sign

Stop the rampant spending that threatens to send our country spiraling toward insolvency. Stop the rapid expansion of government that continues to encroach on our essential freedoms. And most of all stop trying to shove a radical health care “reform” bill designed to fundamentally restructure the U.S. economy down our throats.

The American people have spoken. The White House hasn’t heard their message.

Now Harry Reid is promising to pass a health care bill through the Senate in sixty days. President Obama is continuing to arrogantly push this radical legislation in the hope of creating a new entitlement program that will continue to nurture America’s dependency on Big Government. When America’s leadership has become so disconnected from Americans’ interests, the American people must stand up boldly in defense of their livelihoods and their liberties.

It is more important now than ever to send a clear, unambiguous message to Washington. That is why I am asking you to sign a petition urging President Obama and his Democrat allies to start over on health insurance reform; to work hand in hand with Republican leaders to craft sensible legislation that will address the real issues that plague our health insurance system; and to listen to and enact the will of the American people.

Stand up for yourself and your country. The White House has not heard your voice. Make them hear it. Sign this petition today.

The Government is cost shifting Medicare and Medicaid shorts directly to you. I would advise self funding a specific and aggregate stop loss and renting a PPO network from Humana or Aetna.

Here is the trouble i have with your 'clarification' post:

“We ask that they help craft sensible reforms designed to lower costs and expand access without violating individual rights or the integrity of the market.

Do you think ANYONE in the government is intelligent enought to "help craft legistlation" that wont screw things up more? What makes the government so wise?

We ask that they enact medical liability reform and put an end to frivolous lawsuits that drive up the cost of medicine.

OK I am with you on this one

We ask that they allow individuals and small businesses to pool together to purchase high-quality affordable health care coverage.

Where does the govt get the authority to ALLOW anyone or any business to do this?

We ask that they allow Americans to shop for health care coverage from coast to coast and purchase insurance policies across state lines.

once again "ALLOW"????

We ask that they create new incentives to save for current and future health care needs by allowing people to use their health savings accounts funds to pay premiums for high deductible health plans.”

Do you think ANYONE in the government is intelligent enought to create new incentives that wont screw things up more? Every 'incentive' the governemt has EVER created (like affordable housing for everyone!) has been a major disaster

Please tell me where these items are located in obama’s plan.

All the way with you on this one, but disagree with your 'requests' from the benevolent govt.

Most of the sensible posters here have been supporting these positions.

Most posters here would rather the govt get the hell out of health care completely.

My response:

“We ask that they help craft sensible reforms designed to lower costs and expand access without violating individual rights or the integrity of the market.”

I look at this as a “preamble” statement to the more specific plans below.

“We ask that they allow individuals and small businesses to pool together to purchase high-quality affordable health care coverage.”

“We ask that they allow Americans to shop for health care coverage from coast to coast and purchase insurance policies across state lines.”

At the state and federal level, the law currently exists PROHIBITING these acts. This is a call to repeal that law. I support the repeal of overly restrictive laws that stifle the free market. I assume you do as well. You might not like the exact phraseology, but you should not disagree with the goal.

I would also like the government to radically reduce it’s role in health care and everything else. Take a look at the balance of the petition as to what they DON’T want the government to do.

I don’t want 0bamacare; I got flamed by posters who didn’t read my comment because they didn’t read the original post. Most of specifics in that petition are proposals we ought to support. Most of us here would no doubt go farther. But the positions stated in the petition are economically sound and politically feasible. I say let’s do it and not just flame away.

The fascist democrats will stop at nothing in their quest to take over our economy and our freedom. They will control most of the economy if they succeed in taking over health care and the energy sectors. Cap and trade and health care reform are the tools they will use to turn this country into a government controlled wasteland.

Can’t figure out how to reply to this article in general, but maybe this will work:

We don’t “implore” Washington officials to do anything. These creeps are public employees; they work for us. We tell them what to do, and if they refuse, we fire them and replace them with people who will serve our interest as we direct. Down with these Commie rats!

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

Obama says slight fix will extend Social Security

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware
