Yes, but it's terribly inconvenient for the airlines to allow passengers to embark/disembark at whatever stop they choose along the route.
Oh there are some flights that make multiple stops...
But they can't get rolling again in only 3~5 minutes like a train can!!!

We need more travel options to choose from, dude.
Preferably options that are energy efficient and less dependent on expensive imported OPEC Oil.
