Obama is a US citizen though, isn’t he? Based on the birthplace of his mom? The question is whether or not he is a natural-born citizen, isn’t it?

Obama is not a US citizen; his mother was too young to help, and his Kenyan birth plus his British citizenship from his father snuffs his chance.

Actually, no. Not if he wasn't born on US soil. In accordance with citizenship laws at the time, his mom was too young to confer citizenship to him automatically if he was born overseas. However, if he was born in the US, then the natural born citizen question is still valid.

Well... that’s a good point.
I was probably misguided in taking at face value the author’s contention that Hayworth is trying to put distance between himself and “birthers”.

If he wasn’t born on US soil then he’s not even a US citizen because his mother wasn’t old enough to pass on citizenship through her blood - unless Obama was illegitimate.

You will soon discover there are many sects to the birther cult. The “natural born citizen birthers” think the “born in Kenya birthers” are crazy and from what I can tell most the birthers think the truthers are the real crazies. And the truthers are all voting for Debra Medina, who thinks the government is trying to control her thoughts with radio waves.

Hope that helps.

Obama is a natural-born citizen based on where he was born, not his mom. The fact that he was born in the United States makes him a citizen at birth, and therefore a natural born citizen, without regard to the nationalities of his parents (as long as they were not diplomats, which of course they were not).

Now, there is a school of birtherism which questions his citizenship based on his father's lack of US citizenship. But that is hogwash given the Fourteenth Amendment and would be highly questionable even without it. In any case, it's not getting any traction in court. And even if it did, the Supremes would leave Obama's removal to Congress, which, under the Constitution, has the sole power to remove a sitting president.

Of course, if it were somehow true that he was not born in the US, then it would get interesting. Little Barry's citizenship (and therefore his natural born citizenship) would turn on whether Stanley Ann was really married to the sperm donor from Kenya. If she was, then little Barry would have needed naturalization, making him not natural born. However, one can make a good argument that her marriage was bigamous and therefore invalid because BHO, Sr. already had at least one wife back in Kenya. In that case, he would be natural born even if born in Mombasa, as the nuttier birthers believe.

Good for JD not to be lumped into the birther crowd! Down with McQueeg!

Please dig deeper friend. Go right here and read about his dad - a British citizen. There is a ton of history here - but this one is hard for the Oboy fool to undo...yet we never hear about it.

Obama is by law - a British citizen because his father was a British citizen. British law states this clearly. Of all the documents you’d think Oboy would want public - you’d think he’d want us all to see a REAL document stating his relinquishing of his British citizenship in order to become a US citizen. Unless I’m nuts - this is Apuzzo’s case. Read it for yourself.....
