Nukes kinda make that a far less of a problem. Unless, of course, the Chinese are running the numbers and figure they’ve got way too many Chinese as is...

Technology, education, and economics counts for far more than the amount of land a country has nowadays. By your standards, Japan would be an aggressive country since it only has 4 tiny islands while Russia should be a paragon of peace(since it has so much territory).
I don’t think India and China necessarily have to be strategic competitors(unless their leaders are idiots of course).
