People tend to dump “journalists” in with used car salespeople. I went out used car shopping with my son and they seemed pretty honest and professional.

I imagine they are offended being lumped in with “journalists.”

radical - It is not that Ayers has moderated his political views that make him a former radical, but instead that the political left has joined him.

Their point is that "radical" is a relative term. Now that we have a terrorist-loving socialist in our White House and nearly half of the country still supports that druggie and sees nothing wrong with socialism, it's hard to categorize a little bit of domestic terrorism and continued pride in those bombings as terribly radical. The New Yorker may be making the right call - this unrepentant anti-American terrorist is now mainstream, at least compared to their readers.

If it weren’t for the daily hit pieces on the Catholic church in the media, how would us non Catholics ever know that it was the Season of Lent?

Now he is a free radical and a free range chicken. The solvent cage of the US could not contain him and his pecking order.
