GOP engaging in 'bogus talk' on health care, Schwarzenegger says

WASHINGTON – While Republican leaders in Washington are urging President Barack Obama to start from scratch on a health care bill, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday dismissed the idea as "bogus talk."
It marked the second day in a row that Schwarzenegger strayed from his party's positions.
On Sunday, he defended Obama's economic stimulus plan and chided elected officials, most of them Republicans, who oppose the overall stimulus but are quick to trumpet individual projects in their states that are paid for by the stimulus.
Standing outside the White House after meeting privately with Obama on Monday, Schwarzenegger touted the economic stimulus plan yet again.
"I think the stimulus package has been very successful so far, and I think California has benefited tremendously," he said.

A couple weeks ago he called Obama’s plan a “ripoff.” I guess he got a Ben Nelson/Mary Landrieu-sized kickback to change his tune.

You know for their differences in opinion, the democrats really do not have politicians who completely castigate their own party quite like Schwarzenegger and McCain do to the REPUBS.

not that he would be Captain Conservative or anything but at least a competent executive that was at least center right. hold the line on fiscal issues and try to reign in the CA beast while sticking to some principles. he just sees where the wind blows in a pathetic effort to increase his popularity. he should just shut up keep his head down until his term ends and go away

The "healthcare" bill is the same type of gargantuan government largess that's currently bankrupting his state, yet he wants it for the country.
Awnold needs to take a page out of “W” playbook and just shut up and sit down!
He’s pandering to O so he’ll bail his State out of bankruptcy, it’s blatant and pathetic. I have no respect for Arnold whatsoever, he’s openly supporting liberal spending plans similar to those that have put California almost into receivership.

I think you hit the nail on the head. In exchange for a CA bailout, Obama is going to have him as the new GOP spokesman for Obama, a la Colin Powell. Problem is, CA is in deep doodoo and the words coming out of Arnold’s mouth do not match with the reality people are seeing.
Basically, yes - all the states get the Nebraska kickback under Obama's plan.
