When You Botch the Stimulus, No One Believes Your Health-Care Promises
nro ^ | February 23, 2010 | Jim Geraghty

This sentence, deep in the Washington Post’s coverage of the health-care summit, made me shake my head and be glad I’m not a congressional Democrat:

The White House's best hope — perhaps its only hope — is that Obama can use a masterful performance during the six-hour appearance to "stiffen the spine" of congressional Democrats, one senior official said, persuading them to pass health-care legislation using the mechanism known as reconciliation, which requires a simple majority of 51 rather than 60 votes to prevail in the Senate.

Great, they’ve ordered up another “masterful performance.” I expect copper prices to rise as the administration assembles the biggest, loudest, shiniest cowbell ever.

the decline in Obama’s approval rating in the past year — particularly on the economy — has come from Americans who took that leap of faith with the new president and felt like they endured a crash landing. They just don’t trust Obama’s pledges about the effects of legislation anymore, and that’s why no matter how grandiose and appealing the promises surrounding the health-care bill get, the numbers barely budge.

No matter how "masterful" Obama's performance is, the health-care bill is likely to remain pretty unpopular, with some corners of the electorate furiously opposed. Obama has to persuade congressional Democrats to ignore their constituents and, in many cases, end their careers over this legislation.

7% believe Elvis is still alive.

6% believe the Stimulus actually “worked”.

Nuff said.

Here’s what is REALLY sick about the “President’s Healthcare Bill” (besides EVERYTHING) is:

The taxes it depends on are imposed in 2010

The benefits do not begin until 2014

That’s what Jon Scott on FOX News just asserted.

Fox news is the only reference I have for this information.

Obama: “If you Democrats will all stand with me, we can do this.” Translation: “If you Democrats will all fall on your swords for me, I can do this.”

Senate Democrats: “Mr. President, we’re with you.” Translation: “You’re on your own, pal.”

House Democrats: “Go screw yourself.”

More taxes, more fed tax paid abortions, more govt record-keeping on individuals, IRS enforced mandatory insurance purchase, less reimbursement for MEDICARE (and I assume military TRICARE, less mammogram screening, less rights to seniors to have lifesaving/life extending/quality of life improving medical treatments - even if they want to pay for it on their own

Obamacare has something for everyone! What's not to like?

Max Baucus on the floor of the Senate:

“Just for a second – health care reform, whether you use a 10-year number or when you start in 2010 or start in 2014, wherever you start at, so it is still either $1 trillion or it’s $2.5 trillion, depending on where you start.”

When the government has to pay for your health care it will give them the excuse they need to control every aspect of your life.

the “benefits” will begin sooner, if you consider insurers starting to adjust their coverages and deny seniors and other treatment, in preparation for the new standards to be used under obamacare

1/4 of states have already adopted the “recommended” adjustment of insurance covering routine mammogram screening only for women over 50 and only every 2 years

Do you want to guess whether seniors over 60 or so will be able to continue receiving hip replacements under insurance standards??

I am so sick of these bleeding lying thieving liberals.

I just had a fantasy in which I had walked into the U.S. passport office in D.C., I pulled out my passport, and I lit is up like a Roman candle! As I was stamping out the flames, I looked up at the shocked clerk and I very deliberately said between grinding teeth, “You can have this screwed up country. I don’t care anymore that my ancestors have been here since before the American Revolution. I don’t care anymore. You and your fake President and his evil minions can have it! She’s all yours!(and then, of course, I stomped out)

I know, I really need to get out more...

I’m just having an incredibly hard time listening to these liberals lye (Freudian slip) about how the Republicans “are not willing” to offer any ideas about healthcare for all these months!

Everytime Obama talks about health care, support for this reform effort slips further.

He’s had various town meetings around the country, had a prime time town meeting right inside the White House, broadcast by ABC, had a prime-time press conference devoted to healthcare, done the prime-time speech to Congress on healthcare, among other efforts. And every time, we see support erode. I can’t believe that these politicians don’t read the polls, or don’t believe them, or don’t care.

I have my doubts that Thursday’s “dog and pony show” will shore up support, either among Congressional Democrats or among the people.

It’s a fact. It’s Obama’s version of the Chicago “Pay to Play”. In this instance, you pay first and it will be very “iffy” if you get to play depending on your age, the cost of fixing your health, and even if there is any money left in the kitty by 2014.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.

It ain’t a “healthcare” bill. It is a TAX bill...and he needs some bipartisan duck and cover for the largest TAX BILL ever on planet earth as they head into an election cycle.

Without some “walking around” money on the street...ACORN and SEUI won’t perform in November.

Any “benefits” in the bill ..supposedly slated to “kick in” in 2014...IMHO will never be paid.
