Boehner: “The American People Have Spoken: They Want Us to Scrap the Democrats’ Health Care Bill and Start Over.”

Washington, Feb 23 -

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) participated in the weekly Republican leadership press conference this morning to discuss President Obama’s massive government takeover of health care outlined. Boehner issued the following statement:

“The American people have spoken: they want us to scrap the Democrats’ health care bill and start over. That isn’t the ‘Republican’ position; it is the position of the American people. They want their elected officials to start with a clean sheet of paper and work on common-sense, step-by-step reforms that lower costs. House Republicans have such a plan. It’s been available for months at HealthCare.GOP.gov. The President discussed it with us in Baltimore, and it’s even linked on the White House website.

“The President has crippled the credibility of this ‘summit’ by proposing the same massive government takeover of health care the American people have already rejected. It doubles down on the same failed approach that will drive up premiums, destroy jobs, raise taxes, and slash Medicare benefits. Their latest backroom deal makes this ‘summit’ a charade.

“Americans are still asking ‘where are the jobs?’ Yet the Democrats’ new health care proposal increases the Senate bill’s tax on employers who do not provide coverage from $750 to $2,000 per employee. CBO and numerous health care economists have made it clear that such a provision will reduce wages and eliminate jobs. Republicans have offered common-sense reforms to help small businesses create jobs. That’s what the American people want, not the job-killing agenda that Democrats keep trying to jam down their throats.”

That pretty much covers it.
I have been waiting for the Republican leaders to hammer home this point nonstop. It's 0bama/Pelosi/Reid versus the American people. That's what this fight is about.

Thursday is a media show.

Boehner shows up - makes the exact same statement he is making above and he hits it out of the park. GOP is better off showing up, telling the truth and daring Obama to accept reality instead of pushing a bill the American people dont want.

Now they have shown their hands - the summit was a charade to set up for reconciliation - the Democrats ‘summit’ will absolutely backfire. The Dems keep thinking they have a good bill that is being badly sold. No, they have a bad bill that the American people done want.

Americans will know by Thursday there IS not “new bill” it is same-old garbage. They will know, thanks to GOP point it out, that it has taxes, mandates, and regs that will kill jobs.

This statement is perfect! Every single GOP spokesman should just repeat the basic in this statement.

Sure, it may be 'impolitic' for congressmen to turn down an invite to meet with POTUS. But it is equally impolitic for Zero and the 'Rats to refuse to take reconciliation off the table.

The GOP leadership should call a press conference and announce that unless reconcilation is not an option vis-a-vis healthcare, then their presence at Zero's socialized medicine informercial is not required.

We don’t want it “scrapped”, we want a stake driven through its heart and its head on a pike.

>> Boehner shows up - makes the exact same statement

I’d like to see just one Republican show up - DeMint.

Good statement.

I like Newt's suggestion. Go to the Summit, demand equal time (3 hours), and walk out if they don't get it.

That way the lack of "bi-partisanship" falls clearly on those who refuse to give it. On the rats.

He won't be given the chance to make any statement of that sort on Thursday --

Oh, they will go...Bill Bennett says they need to go!...but then again Bill would roll over on his back like a fat happy puppy dog if a democrat would just pat his belly and make nice.

Then scrap the kabuki theater and you will be doing the wishes of the American people.

Why argue when you have already won?

If he or anyone is muzzled for this Obama charade, then
we may see a “You Lie!” moment.
“You promised a dialogue, and you give us a charade!
There is no change, no compromise, and nothing here that is not already in the very bad bills already in Congress and already rejected by the people.”

(Obama’s guards start carrying him out of the room.)

I hope that the pubbies are as clear as can be at the so-called *summit* that a healthcare mandate is unconstitutional. There will be so many people watching that *summit* and the clips afterward. It is a vitally important opportunity to remind the public that we have a Constitution and that free people cannot be *mandated* to buy something they don’t want to buy.

The Magic BSer-In-Chief still thinks he can pull one over on the public. That is how in love with himself he is. “The more I talk, the more they love me.” The reality is a MAJORITY NOW CAN”T STAND TO HEAR ALL THE EMPTY WORDS. After 6 hours, most will be SICK! BRING IT ON!
