Hoyer: Public option on healthcare likely dead By Jared Allen - 02/23/10 12:47 PM ET
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) on Tuesday indicated the public option is likely dead, noting President Barack Obama did not include it in his healthcare proposal.
The Democratic leader's comments come as liberals in the party seek its inclusion in the legislation ahead of the president's health summit on Thursday.
Hoyer did say the House could again pass a healthcare bill with a public option, and he was quick to mention his own support for the government-run health insurance alternative. But the Democratic leader made a point of noting its omission from the presidents plan and its inability to pass in the Senate.
I think the public option can pass in the House, Hoyer said during his weekly press briefing. But its not in the presidents proposal.
I was for the public option. I believe the public option does, in fact, provide for and CBO scores it as saving money. And to that extent I think its a good thing, said Hoyer, who has shown a greater willingness than any other House leader to embrace the Senates approach to healthcare reform. But I think that it is obviously an item that the president has decided he was for the public option, as well is not something that perhaps the Senate can buy.

Better that the three stooges.......
We should all call our liberal representatives and DEMAND that they vote NO on any bill without a public option!!!
(We can kill this thing from two angles, y’all...)
How about ya’ll kill the whole thing. You and the dems take nazi palousy and dirty reid, and the currents squater in the white hut and his family, and ya’ll move to a communist country. that way you will feel at home.
It’s not dead. It’s simply in suspended animation.
Good idea.
This BS again. If it includes a personal mandate, price and coverage controls, pre-exisitng conditions, and taxpayer funding for those who can’t afford to buy, then IT’S ALL ONE BIG PUBLIC OPTION.
Steny wouldn’t LIE to the people to prevent an outcry, would he?
You know. Its going to be a LONG 3 years until we can clear and fumagate the White House.
I am so tired. I don’t sleep well anymore. Something has got to give ya’ll.
No Democrap bill, robbery, theft. lie or unconstitutional legislation is dead until the head is gone. We all need to take Democrap statements with a grain of salt till 2012. And our diligence will not stop there - as Scott Brown has proven.
And in another sense, what we have today, without all this ‘rat health “reform”, is a good dose of “public option”. This is as good a time as any to get the government the hell out of health care... they’ve been meddling for 60 years now, with medicare, medicaid, mandatory-to-anybody care entering an ER, regulations, bureaucracy, rules, agency controls, etc. We’ve already got a good dose of a “public option”, and that’s put us in the mess its in today. Its the old story of government meddles to fix problems, causing new ones, that they so conveniently have a new fix for.
Never...trust...a...lib.
IT’S NOT DEAD UNTIL THE HEAD IS CUT OFF!..................

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.
