Future US embassy in Britain a 'timeless' vision in glass

The United States announced Tuesday that it has chosen a cutting-edge, energy-efficient design by acclaimed US architecture firm KieranTimberlake for its future embassy in Britain.

The building, a towering glass cube covered with a thin sheath of photo-voltaic cells "met the goal of creating a modern, welcoming, timeless, safe and energy-efficient embassy for the 21st century," the State Department said.

"The concept holds the greatest potential for developing a truly iconic embassy and is on the leading edge of sustainable design."

Is the U.S. Government stupid or What?All a terrorist would have to do is park a truck bomb in front of that deathtrap and kill thousands of people.

Instead of building these facilities too look good they need to build them harder.

I’d hate to work in that thing.

It’s right on the street. What would one good-sized car bomb do to all the people sitting behind that glass?

If you were going to use solar energy one would think that the building would be oriented east-west with the south side sloped based on the latitude to intercept the most solar radiation. Just a thought.

It looks like a flashbulb from an old Polaroid. When it is burned out, unplug the Embassy and plug a new one in.

Who approves these ideas?
