Flu.gov ^ | February 22, 2010

A key U.S. Food and Drug Administration Advisory Committee recommended today that protection against the 2009 H1N1 virus, which was first identified last April, be included in the 2010-2011 seasonal influenza vaccine starting this fall. That means that, barring some unforeseen circumstance, this fall, most Americans will be able to return to the traditional routine of having one flu vaccine to protect them against the major circulating flu viruses. As is always the case with seasonal vaccine, younger children who have never had a seasonal vaccine will still need two doses.

Now they're trying to force the H1N1 vaccine on people by combining it with the regular flu shot.

Since our scare tactics didn’t work...now we will just add it to what we know you will take.

Unbelievable.

I always get the flu shot. There’s no way in hell I’m getting it this year. There are going to be a lot more people getting the regular flu because they are not going to get the flu shot.

Folks, it’s a vaccine not a mind control device. If you don’t want it don’t get it.

What’s wrong with being able to choose one or both? Why shove both down peoples’ throats?

Same here. I’ll take my chances.

Funny thing is, my allergist, who I have a great deal of respect for and is very knowledgeable and HONEST, says that anyone over the age of 50 has already had the swine flu two or three times and should not have anything to worry about from catching it.

He also has told me that vaccines are only partially effective many times and there is always a number of people for whom the vaccine doesn’t take anyway.

I know folks whose docs told them they weren’t candidates for the bird flu vaccine? Wonder what those patients are supposed to do?

H1N1 - the epidemic that wasn’t.

The common flu claimed a LOT more victims than may have attributed to H1N1, and besides, there seems to be some sort of residual immunity among older members of the population, the result of earlier bouts with a similar strain.

If you are going to spring germ warfare on the world, at least get a more virulent strain.

It’s not whether they’re a good thing or not. It’s the choice aspect of it.

I’ve been hospitalized with complications from the flu. I get the seasonal shot. But I want a say in what I’m shot up with or I won’t get it.
